Attached is a link to the KAAL TV website with an article on a possible break in the Jodi Huisentruit missing persons case. Apparently an (at the time) 13 year old woman has come forward stating that she witnessed Jodi's death.
I know there have been numerous "breaks in the case" over the years, so we will have to wait to see how this develops. http://www.kaaltv.com/article/view/107368/ |

Yowza. That's an interesting break, although I tend to agree with the author of the article: Why would you step forward after 14 years? I can see the fear of retribution being a big factor, but I guess I'm still skeptical. I would like to see this case solved for her family's sake, though.

Here's some of the info from that site. Apparently the then-13 year old did not witness the abduction, but claims she heard about it.
http://www.findjodi.com/bnews3.htm "The author was a woman who claimed she saw Jodi on June 27th, 1995; the day Jodi disappeared. The woman says she was a 13-year-old runaway at the time and got mixed up with the "wrong people". While she didn't witness Jodi's abuduction, she explained one of the men involved in the crime told her how the men abducted Jodi in her apartment parking lot. "2 men went in a white ford ecoline [sic] van like carpenters use and waited outside the building where she lived," she writes. The woman explained to the FJI how the attack played out. Other information included in the dialogue was a location where Jodi was murdered, names of six men involved in the crime and what happened to Jodi's body. "Yes, I remember the spot, the names, every detail," she writes. "I can't get it out of my head." The woman told the FJI that she had contacted the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations. FJI have confirmed that the DCI and Mason City Police Department are aware of recent developments and have opened up an investigation." http://www.findjodi.com/bnews4.htm "The woman maintains she was never directly involved in Jodi's death, only she was forced to watch." |

I was somewhat surprised to learn that the police had followed thousands of leads - the UM segment (which was kind of short compared to most other segments) offered no potential suspects or motives. It is possible that most of these leads have surfaced since the segment aired, but I have no idea.
I also have no idea if this was premeditated or a random act. I've wondered that if it was premediated, why the perpetrator(s) weren't thrown offguard because Jodi was running significantly late the day she disappeared. A lot of questions in this one. |

BTW, this site is ridiculous jinx to my college football teams. I had a Canes avatar then they started flailing in September. So I switched to USC and everything was fine until I returned to this board a few days ago, and SC promptly blows the national championship game berth. And to UCLA, of all scumbags.
Worst of all, now it's the damn Gators. No chance I'm watching that thing. My return flight will be smack during that game. Guaranteed. |

I'm not saying it wasn't interference. To me it was borderline, something you argued based on which side you were on, kind of like the 2000 election mess in Florida. But after that game and for literally years later, the Buckeyes fans stormed the Miami message boards and made jerks of themselves. Apparently they were defensive that the result and title were questioned. Those actions turned me against Ohio St, not the game itself or anything prior. Hating the Gators, now that's something I learned at about 18 months. After SC lost on Saturday I was pure let's go blue, in regard to the BCS title berth. BTW, I did set up my return flight today, to exactly what I indicated. And happily avoiding that game. |

I'm well off topic here, but has anyone else questioned the penalties called in the Swamp against Gator opponents, especially when a BCS bowl bid is at stake? Case in point, last year when Vanderbilt came back and scored w/ a min. left in the 4th Q to pull w/n 1 on a Jay Cutler (now a Denver Bronco) TD pass. It was clear Vandy was planning on going for 2 and the win, however, the official called an excessive celebration penalty on th WR. And let me tell you, no one, even die-hard Gator fans believed the WR's actions (basically jumping up and down twice) warranted a penalty. This year, it was the Gamecocks who were well w/n field goal range (i.e., on the 15 yard line) and were called for 2 penalties, one of which was a false start w/ about 30 sec. remaining, and if there was movement, it was negligble and, in my opinion, at that stage of the game, you should just let them play.
Florida breeds controversial calls, be they political or otherwise . . . |

Frankly, that celebration rule was put in place to thwart my Canes. In the old days we would do a five-man dance after every tackle, especially if it was for a loss. I loved that era. Supposedly a friend of my dad just mailed 70 VHS tapes of Canes games from the '80s and '90s to my dad in Miami. He was going to throw them away until we begged him not to. The South Carolina play this year actually negated a long gain inside the 10 yard line. CBS showed the replay and the movement, as you indicated, was negligible at best. South Carolina was forced to try a much longer winning FG attempt and the Gator leaper timed it perfectly and swatted the kick at its apex. That was the second time he had done that, earlier on an extra point. So that saved 4 points and Florida won by 1. I suppose he could have rejected a chip shot FG but they tend to be much higher trajectory. The Gamecock kicker is normally very reliable so I think he would have won the game minus the questionable motion penalty. Why is this off topic? And where is SiberianKiss? You should see the posts on the USC football forum, with someone from Kentucky today asking how he can put SiberianKiss on ignore. I love SK's posts since he's very knowledgable about the Trojans, but it's not the rah-rah stuff, as he puts it, so some posters are offended. |

I just watched most of the segment again the other day, and the police were talking about a frustrating lack of apparent motive. There definitely does appear to be something up with the white van.
I wonder if it was true that screams were heard but not reported. Man, that would tick me off if it were true. And I just realized that it's turned up it a lot of UM cases. Crystal Spencer's neighbor not reporting screams, the motel guests didn't report it when Pamela Ray screamed, and the motel clerk in the Tom Johnson case didn't even investigate it when the woman said there was something going on in the room next to hers. Seriously, what's up here. If it's the middle of the night and a woman is screaming, odds are she's in trouble and I would have the phone in my hand ASAP dialing 911. |

Looks like the new tipster is a nutcase. She recanted major segments of her tale and wanted the media to pay her for interviews:

Unfortunately, it's not the first time it's happened and it probably won't be the last. A supposed witness in the Glen Cosagra case told police 6 very different and conflicting testimonies about what happened on the islands that fateful night, before scrapping all those testimonies and claiming she was never on the island.

I hate rah rah's!
most of those folks can't handle anything negative about their beloved Trojans Awsi....I love SC as much as them but I'm just not drinking the kool-aid. Until SC gets a big boy offensive coordinator they will not win a national championship.... |
