Have any of you accomplished anything that you take great pride in, whether it be from athletics, academics, community service, etc? I used to be a hot shot bowler when I was a kid. By age 15, I had already bowled a 700 series, bowled 250+ 4 times, and averaged 190. I stopped bowling for about 2 1/2-3 years for various reasons, but I recently returned to it, and currently average 202. So far, I have bowled 276, and 268 twice in 12 weeks.

When I was in HS, I was one of the overall officers for my local DECA [Distributive Education Clubs of America] chapter. This was during my junior year, BTW.
Was president of my class my freshman year and vice-president the other years afterwards. When I was in HS, I took part in the Close Up program. I went to my state's Close Up program in February of 2001 (sophomore year) and then to Washington DC for their Close Up program in April of 2002 (junior year). Graduated HS in 2003 with honors. Oh yeah, and did I mention I skipped a grade too? It was in grade school, though- went from kindergarten to second grade. I should have graduated from HS in 2004, but I didn't. ![]() I took part in the first world record here- the objective was to have the most people be there to make snow angels. This was the first record that was ever set for that... 1,791 people made snow angels at the same time for 10 seconds at 1 o'clock on March 23, 2002, and I was one of the 1,791 people there that day. If you look at the 2004 edition of the Guinness World Records book, it's in there- near the front of the book. I think it's in the section MASS PARTICIPANTS. I've been an editor for my college's paper- which is pretty damn challenging when there are only 16 people on the staff serving a school population of about 4,000 people. I was able to take part in a college journalism conference that took place in New York City earlier this year. I'm returning to the paper as an editor in January, and I'm hoping to return to the conference in New York City this coming spring.

i made it to my county's spelling bee four years in a row, and in fifth and eighth grade won it and made it to the state finals (in eighth grade i made it to ninth place statewide).
i made it into my school's honor choir my first try and my choir teacher has said in class that i have "ten times as much the voice" as everyone else there and has given a few speeches about how i developed an operatic voice in just a few months, which he didn't think was humanly possible because it takes most people a matter of years. um i'll stop now |

- I've received many high grades in English classes from the time I was really young (say, 5th grade) until present day. I've also been told by English teachers and professors that I should be a professional writer.
- I was praised by a play group I was acting with and told I had a hidden acting ability That really made me smile since I was feeling so self-conscious about getting on stage for the first time!- I achieved a 4.0 grade point average at college. - I was accepted in to Phi Theta Kappa, which is a national honor society for college students. |

My Colourguard team won 4th place at the drill team national competition in Washington, DC out of 40 teams freshman year. Man, we worked so hard for that...
Freshman year I won 'Cadet of the Year' at ROTC graduation out of about 275 students in my AS-1 flights. I've been accepted to National Science Honor Society and National Art Honor Society I've been nominated numerous times for national honor rolls and law conferences in Washington, DC. Most importantly, I've overcome my drug addiction and have been clean for almost 3 years. May not seem like an accomplishment to most people, but for me, it's one of the things I am most proud of. |

Last year, we had a journalism competition (dont ask me why...it was part of our conference or something) against other schools...In sectionals, I got first place in my category (news writing)...According to the scores, I beat everyone by like...a lot. I can't even explain how proud I was of myself. It was the first time I actually realized that I might be GOOD at what I planned to do for the rest of my life.
Then I didnt place at state, but that's okay because we all sucked. ![]() Um anyway. I was in NHS in high school. I got a journalism scholarship (that I had to SHARE with someone I'm not fond of, but we won't go into that) and was chosen by my two journalism teachers to receive it, so that was cool. I got a whole bunch of other awards and whatnot my senior year... umm yeah |

I served over 3600 hours of volunteer service with Americorps.
I helped build a two mile trail in two weeks. I worked alongside exceptional individuals with whom I hope to be friends for many years to come. I participated in three hurricane relief trips, one to East Texas(Rita) and two to New Orleans(Katrina) I helped a person I barely knew with a personal crisis. |

I recieved a full four-year college scholarship my senior year in HS. I got my BA in English in 2004. I was incredibly proud of myself for doing that. Plus the fact I got an A on my senior paper (which I still have on my hard drive to this day, hehe! That's how proud I am of that paper). I also have a drivers' licence, which is a big deal when you consider I took the road test 6 times to get it! Oh, and in 6th grade, I was the first person in my English teacher's career to get 110 on a vocabluary quiz (there was extra credit).
