Default Almost 2007 and i still haven't found an answer to these 5 questions

Why did the Show make so many references to the Waltons?

Why was Esther Rolle Missing in the ep-"The Enlistment"

Why The Guy who played Henry Evans didn't return for James Funeral ep but appeared in OTHER eps during that season

Why the show no longer had TAG scenes after season 1

Why was Ralph Carter missing in thr ep-"My son the Lover"

I'm disappointed in myself for not finding these things out yet. lol

NOTE: Please don't TRY to answer none of these QUESTIONS unless you have a SOURCE. I'm not really looking for an answer just speculation.

I believe the references to the Waltons was the fact that they were "advertising" the show since it was on CBS.

the answers to the rest of your questions...WHO CARES!!!! Maybe Esther and Ralph were very ill for the tapings of those shows.

Well, it is possible they were ill. I have read abt shows many times where a script was written around a character because of an illness or injury. Or at the last minute, the character was just not written in because they were too ill to shoot the scenes. It happens all the time.

you are not likely to find these things talked about in magazines
b/c noone cares

they are not gonna have an article entitled ESTHER ROLLE to miss next weeks episode of Good Times--- its not important
and it happens all the time with all sorts of shows
people get sick, they have schedule conflicts, they are just not in that ep for some reason

most people just watch the show and enjoy it and dont focus on insignificant things that happened 30 years ago

I agree. It wasn't as significant back then as it is now. Nowadays, you have so many magazines, entertainment shows, blogs, internet sites, etc. to give you updates on shows, behind-the-scenes, gossip, actors/actresses who are ill, pregnant, what shows they will miss for whatever reason, etc. Nowadays, you hear abt an actor missing maybe two shows because of some "personal problems" or family member who is sick. Back then, it was like "who cares".

Please go back to the Trading Board. You proved that you have no qualifications to be on a TV show Board

False, it was a section in the Jet that dealt with Celebrity News. So I have to disagree. I just haven't stumbled across the Right Mag yet-lol

I understand that. JET is a total different magazine though. It had all black entertainment news, and back then, there was not many programming that dealt with black issues or had an all black cast. So, JET would be your only bet, but even that I doubt JET would have that kind of information as it wasn't something significant. By significant, I mean, was there an illness that Esther was dealing with that caused her to miss a taping? Was it diabetes related? Was there an illness or death in her family? Did she have an engagement elsewhere? Those are the kinds of information I can see JET putting in their magazine as far as why so and so was missing from an episode. Ralph Carter, like I said, was probably sick. His role was probably so small in that episode, the writers just didn't put him in it. If one is sick, that takes priority over a scene being shot. Especially with a child/minor.
