Default The First episode of the Jeffersons can be confusing to New Viewers if they never

watched All in the Family. In the Pilot of the Jeffersons, everything set the tone for the entire series. George going to his favorite hiding place, Mr. Bentley getting walked on, Louise hating George's mother, and George not liking the Willises. So if a New Viewer watches the first ep and hear George say-"What's with you and this back walking thing? They would be confused because that is the very first ep of season 1 and he was making a statement that was obvious he had already did this before. So I think if they CHOP off the scene with the Jeffersons at their Queens House and start the ep right when they get to the Manhattan apt, that pilot ep could be in the Jeffersons syndication package. Also new viewers would be confused to see george so irritated with the Willises in the very first ep thinking he just met them didn;t he so why is he so mad. Not knowing he had already met them in the Pilot.

You're absolutely right! I finally got Season 1 last night and started with the first episode. I realized that a lot must have been established before, most likely in an episode of "All In The Family." Can you tell me which episode(s)?

Everything you saw in the First on ep on DVD was established in the All in the Family ep-"The Jeffersons Move Up" which was the Pilot. The things established in the Pilot were

1. George making the Bathroom his place to go when he was Mad

2. George walking on Bentley's Back

3. Mother Jefferson not liking Louise

4. George not crazy about the Willises

Could not stand the suspense! I bought ALL IN THE FAMILY season 5 and watched "The Jeffersons Move Up" episode. Fantastic! Not only in the way they set up the new show (which made its debut the very next week) but how about that "final" goodbye scene between Edith and Louise? Was that terriffic television or what?

So, what am I gonna do with the rest of the box set now that i've seen the episode? Enjoy it, of course! Nothin' like a little Archie to brighten the day!
