Default Baby Abduction

Does any one remember a story about a young mother, who i believe just had a baby and she took her other daughter to the bathroom(which was a porta potty) and there wasn't room for the baby and the carrier and she left it out side and when she came out her baby was gone.

does that sound familiar? and was the baby ever found? what about the abductors?

Yes I remember that one. It was on the Morgan Nick segment. Unfortunately the baby and her abductors haven't been found:

I'm guessing the baby's name to be Jacqueline Castaneda. That case was mentioned in the segment about the disappearance of Morgan Nick. Judging from her active profile at the Charley Project, it doesn't look like she has ever been found.

Default This woman!

This case outraged me and made me laugh at the same time. Who would be so stupid to leave a baby outside a porta potty?!??

Sorry, I can't get past my tears and my laughter, that's all I can say

I have to agree with you. Who would leave their baby outside a porta-potty? If her mother was supposed to meet her there, then why couldn't she have waited for her mom to show up and watch the baby while she went to the bathroom? I have a four month old and I won't even leave her out of my sight. I thought that was messed up. I'm sure she could have waited. I know sometimes we do have to go to the bathroom so bad that we feel like we can't hold it, but when you are at a fair or flea market by yourself with 2 children (one in an infant seat) you make yourself hold it since they have itty bitty porta pottys and you know you can't fit a car seat in it. Leaving that baby outside the potty was not smart.

Default Yeah

There are so many things she should've done, such as 1) take the baby out of the carrier to take her in the potty and 2) wait for the dad (or mom) who was parking the vehicle right?
You know, she's probably beating herself up over what she could've or should've done, but you know it's a wonder she wasn't gotten on neglect or something like that. I do pray for her though, I'm sure she's filled with a lot of regret and sadness

Yes I'm sure she regrets it now but it was a foolish thing to do. No way in this world I would have left my baby so I couldn't see them....I would have used that porta potty with the door open if I had to.

If I'm in a store & I have to use the rest room, I go in the handicapped stall so that I can bring my daughter's stoller in there with me. May seem like a strange thing to do but I rather be safe than sorry.

Also, f I was in a situation where I had to use a port-a-potty, I would hold it or go behind some bushes!

The first poster wrote that she was taking her older daughter to the bathroom. Unfortunately, she was probably hurrying before her toddler had an accident. That's so sad and obviously poor judgement. Being a Mom is hard sometimes and we all get in these situations. and have to make decisions. Luckily none of mine have ended this way...

It's pretty sick that we live in a society where you can't leave your baby alone for 2 minutes.

Yes, I would agree that it's pretty sick that we live in a world where we can't leave our children alone for a few minutes. But, this lady didn't leave her baby in the crib to grab a quick shower, she left the baby outside a port-a-potty at a busy swap meet. This is certainly one of those "but for the grace of God" moments as I'm sure all parents have had a lapse in judgment that could have turned tragic. It was a lapse in judgment and it's sad that the baby was taken as a result. But, I do have to wonder what made her think leaving an infant outside a public toilet at a busy event was a good idea. That doesn't give somebody the right to kidnap the child, don't get me wrong. But, the mom made a very bad choice. One I'm sure she regrets every day of her life. I try not too judge too harshly, but as a mom, I can't understand her logic on this one.

Plus if it was the daughter who had to use the restroom than I don't understand why the mom didn't just let the girl in there by herself and stand guard at the door thus keeping both the girls safe. I'm sure she's went over this scenario in her mind a million times as well. An awfully huge price to pay for a lapse in judgment.

If the little girl was only 2, she probably needed help getting onto the adult-sized toilet and with her clothes.

The mom should've put her 2 year old in diapers for the day to make things easier, since she also had an infant to look after.

In California nonetheless.
