Default Poor Laurie Metcalf has aged so terribly bad

She's only about 50 or 51, right? I saw her on this Roseanne reunion show, then I saw her at some behind-the-scenes thing, and finally on that show Monk. My GRANDMOTHER looks younger than her and she's 80. Laurie just looks so absolutely dreadful. I feel sorry for her. Roseanne and Dan have both aged appropriately. But Laurie? My God, that poor, poor woman.

The only thing I've seen her on recenly was that episode of "Desperate Housewives" a few weeks ago. She looked a little older, but nothing too bad. Do you have any pictures from the shows that you're talking about?

My husband bought me the first few seasons of Roseanne on disk. There was an interview with her. I thought for a moment that her horrid appearance was some sort of gag until I sadly realized that was her real face. She was also on that show "Monk". My mother called me during the episode and said, "My God, is that the same woman from Roseanne?". Laurie honestly looked like her face was falling apart. Please don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to slam her. I think LM is an awesome actress and I like her a lot. However, nature has not been kind to her face. She has wrinkles everywhere, her eyes sag horribly, her mouth looks weird. She almost looks like a caractiture of a person. Either she got some kind of horrendous plastic surgery, or she is much, much older than what she claims. I am telling you, she could get senior citizen discounts EASILY. I feel pity for the poor woman. I have never in my life seen anybody age that badly.

Really! Please show us what you mean about Laurie.

Some stars age ok, but others are a total shock. I am glad the world is not comparing my photos!

I looked all over the web for pics, but couldn't find any. She was recently on this show, "Monk" and it's web site used to have a clip of one of her scenes. I can't find it now though. I understand that people age. Nobody escapes it. But time has been so unkind to this woman. I read on this one gossip site that she's a "huge stoner", so maybe that contributed to her aging. But not only has she aged dreadfully, her features are somewhat distorted, almost like plastic surgery gone horribly wrong. Her mouth is extremely crooked (I don't know how else to word it). Her eyes also look very odd, much, much larger that they used to be, with a great amount of sagging. If she looked decent on "Desperate Housewives", then the only thing that I can conjure is they gave her a s***load of makeup and altered the lightening so as not to accentuate her face. On Monk, she wasn't wearing much makeup. I thought Farrah Faucet (from the American program "Charlie's Angels") aged badly. She doesn't hold a candle to Laurie. I know this sounds incredibly shallow, but if I were her, I would quit acting. Her face is such a deterent, it's hard to pay attention to the scene. I am the type of person who hardly ever notices looks. I just don't. But her appearance is so dreadful, it's hard to stop staring at her face in this perverse kind of way. Sort of like when you have a toothache and you know bloody well that you should leave it alone, but you can't keep your tongue from rubbing it, which makes the tooth hurt worse, but you can't help yourself.

I agree. She is 51 years old, and she looks...51 years old. I don't see anything horrid about her.

I haven't seen Laurie Metcalf lately, so I can't speak to that. Some people just age better than others because of various factors...i.e. genetics, exposure to sun, lifestyle, health, etc.

My mother-in-law just turned 85. She could easily pass for 65. It's incredible. I have a cousin who's 50 and has a face of wrinkles.

I don't know about Monk, but I saw her on Desperate Housewives and she didn't look old at all. In fact, in most of her scenes she looked the same as she did at the end of Roseanne, which was 10 years ago.

I laughed out loud at "Roseanne aged appropriately".

I haven't seen much of her, but I remember the Season 1 Reunion pics, and she looked about 55. I think you just saw bad pictures.

I love Laurie's natural look. I am growing absolutely tired of seeing 50-60 year old women trying to dress, look and act as if they were 20. Laurie is beautiful .. it's so easy to harp on someone when you're sitting in front of a piece of machinery. Grow up.

The one who looked horrid was Roseanne after several plastic surgeries. Last nights episode on N&N, where she hits DJ for stealing the car, her face has this haggard look to it. Bad plastic surgery. Her cheeks looked sucked in and it has this unnatural highlight look to it. It reminds me of women who put blush on their cheeks, and when they put too much, they have that streak going up to their hairline, well, Roseanne has that look, except it's NOT BLUSH. Also, she had that "surprised" look in the eye area where she obviously had the face lifted. Her eyebrows were so unnatural looking. Of course, she has had more surgery since that time and she looks way better now.
