Why???? She was sent by an agency when she first appeared at the Jeffersons. So, the agency would be the ones to have her as an employer. My daughter got her current job thru an agency. Until she became an actual employer by the company, the agency is where she picked up her paycheck.

I guess George took over as her employer. But still George is a businessman and he must have had her do the regular paperwork. My father owned a business and once my ex-husband helped my dad run the business after my brother passed away. My dad made my ex-husband fill out the proper paperwork and he was receiving "cash" as his payment, but he still received an income tax check. It doesn't matter how an employee is paid, as long as the employer does the necessary paperwork so that he/she takes out the taxes and so forth.

Even if she was paid by George, he would still have to claim her.

And I knew George wouldn't pay her under the table. She needs to be secure in her future and need social security eventually.

Then she must have had most of her income withheld. Since she didn't have to pay rent and ate there at the Jeffersons, there was no reason for her to have as much of her check as possible.

I believe George would have paid Florence like he paid his other emplyees, with a business check. That's how my parents did it.

It wasn't so much the check it was the amount of it for her to not be making any money and have no dependents
