Default The reason the Evans were poor

It's always interesting to me that James blames all his employment problems on being black, and I'm sure he's right. I'm not black and have no reference to comment on how blacks are really treated in the workplace. However, James does have a sixth grade education. I think that is much more of the reason for his inability to find the kind of employment that would pay him enough.

Also, he is unwilling to let Florida go to work. She said herself that she used to be a maid. I'm sure Flo could have found some work. She was a very intelligent, hardworking woman.

Anyway, being black, I'm sure, held James back, but I believe that his sixth grade education (he is not even a high school dropout) and his macho pride was really what held him back.

I am sorry if I have offended anyone.

BRAVO!!!!!! His lack of education and his stupid pride (prohibiting Flo from working) were the reason.

I think the producers/writers wanted to imply other reasons for there being lack of work, notice how James referenced a brain surgeon being out of work in the hypertension episode. I didn't like that, simply because there is no way a brain surgeon could be out of work and be in the same predicament as James.

SCROOGE

Well I'm going to Wal-Mart since I've never really shopped there before, They have some 20inch flats screens that are going on sale for $68 and some portable DVD players for $50 so I'm getting those for my brother in law kids. Then I'm off to the MALL, my home away from home.
