Default James Evans/Ralph Kramden

Since these two characters were very similar, both were hard working and had short tempers and had the ability to YELL in a way to make you laugh. Do you think that it would have been COOL to see James with a GOOFY sidekick like Ralph had? Some one who would come to the house all the time and was Similar to Ed Norton who would annoy James the way J.J did but he would be his buddy instead of his son? So maybe this could have been the set up, James and Florida had Two kids and Jimmie Walker would be James Goofy Buddy. NO WILLONA

Nah, I don't really like that idea. I like the set up that it was.

Plus, James would never be friends with someone like JJ.

He would have been a Diffferent type of Goofy like how Norton was to Ralph.

Interesting idea. Ralph Kramden and James Evans are 2 of my favorite all time sitcom characters. I always saw a lot of similarities between the James/J.J. interactions and the Ralph/Norton relationship. They were both polar opposites which made it a fascinating and VERY funny set up to watch.

Yup, and since Jimmie was the complete Opposite of Amos in Physical appearance-Tall and Skiny, Amos-Shorter and Built, i think he would have made a WONDERFUL sidekick to James Evans character

As great as the James character was, it wasn't just the John Amos show. The other characters played vital roles.

I just think James should have had a friend coming over to the house instead of Florida

Ok what if they were like the Kramdens and had no KIDS and still lived in a Poor Neighborhood like the Kramdens but not the Projects and both Florida and James had friends come over?

The best part of GT for me, was the struggle. It is more believable to struggle when you have three mouths to feed.
