Oh yeah. I noticed that "back in the days" when I seen GT in the 70's.

I always wondered why they had the same actor play at least two different roles on sitcoms back then. I mean, were black people THAT SCARCE???

I agree with you Irene. It was like there were only a handful of black actors and they were all on GT. So when new characters were created, they just recycled a previous actor to do it. lol

Exactly. They also recycled them on Sanford and Son, What's Happening and other sitcoms of that era.

Yes they were that's why black producers and writers started to write their own movies and such. That's why in the 70's there were a lot of Blaxploitation movies because it was hard for black actors and actresses to get work. So they started to make their own movies. That's why you see the same people over and over in movies and TV shows, roles were hard to get back then.

So it's almost like they (the industry) took no chances and stuck with those actors that had already established themselves, rather than look for "fresh" or up and coming actors/actresses.

Exactly, that's why in the 70's there were a lot of black films with mostly an all black cast becasue of black writers and producers. It was hard back then getting work. So they started to hire their "own" people and making their own films.

They also recycled Alderman Davis. He played Florida's cousin in one episode.
