Default Unidentified actors on the Honeymooners???

In the book "The Official Honeymooners Treasury" it states that there were
four actors who appeared in the Honeymooners who nobody can seem to identify. They are the actors who played "Hollerin Hurdle"; "August Gunther";
"Morris Fink"; and the pug Ralph knocks out at Kelsey's Gym. This information is from the 1990 "New Expanded Edition" so I was wondering if since that time
if any of the actors have been identified? Does anyone have any information on this issue that they would be willing to share on this message board?

I'm pretty sure all except for the "pug" Ralph knocks out at Kelsey's have been identified since then. If I'm not mistaken, I think the actors that played "Hollerin' Hurdle" and August Gunther appeared in more than one Honeymooners episode. I wouldn't know where to start looking for their names though, but somebody else should be able to help you out with that.

The only one of those I can identify at this moment is the pug Ralph knocks out......the actor's name is George Matthews.

That's what I thought too VIDEOWACK, but George Matthews is the actor that played Harvey. The "pug" he's talking about is the guy that Ralph mistakes for Norton's friend at the end.

Default Honeymooners unknown characters

The guy that got knocked out at Kelsey's Gym was actor Mike O'Dowd. I often wondered about some of these people. I just googled the title of the show "Bensonhurst Bomber" and was able to locate the episode. He's identified as "Bully Ralph knocks out"

Unless I've missed a post, I don't know who the actor was who played both "Hollerin' Hurdle and Uncle Leo"

I believe actor Charles Eggleson played August Gunther in that episode and Nell Harrison played his wife that, after 30 years after leaving the apartment said, "The place hasn't changed a bit!"

The Honeymooners are American Classics.

And the Raccoon Lodge president in the early Classic 39 episodes was played by Cliff Hall - who, I.I.N.M., was Jack Pearl's straight man in the "Baron Munchausen and Charlie" skits on radio ("Vas you dere, Sharlie?").

Yes, and Cliff Hall and Jack Pearl appeared on Gleason's "American Scene Magazine" in a "comedian's classic" spot in early 1963.

On the subject of unidentified actors, powbangzooom made a thread recently that you might find interesting. In case you missed it, you can find it here.

Default Hollerin' Hurdle

I posted this information a while back on the imbd message boards on who could have possibly potrayed Hollerin' Hurdle. Here it is in case anyone is interested:

"After reading through some messages, it appears that the actor who portrayed "Hollerin' Hurdle", and Uncle Leo has remained unidentified. The only link was that the surname of "Hurdle" was the same as one of Jackie Gleason's producers, Jack Hurdle. Could Hurdle himself have played the part? Not much information exists on Jack Hurdle, but I was able to find a photograph of him with Mr Gleason. He looks pretty much like the Judge Hurdle/Uncle Leo character with his balding head. Remove the cigarette, add a pair of glasses and who knows? :-) It's the twentieth image on page seven shown after a search for 'jackie gleason' on gettyimages.com."

Could be him, but keep in mind that Gleason sometimes used the last name of a real person he was associated with, as a character in the show. We did a list on this a long time ago, but it may have been on honetmooners.net. These are ones I can remember:

Bus driver Philbin - Jack Philbin
Brother Hurdle (Raccoon Lodge)- Jack Hurdle
Brother Poss- Stanley Poss
Brother Durgom- Bullets Durgom
Brother Jerry Shor- Toots Shor
Brother Jack Philbin- Jack Philbin

Some of these names may been been mentioned very rarely.
