I'm not one to answer these favorites questions but I'll list a few songs that are special to me.
California Dreamin' evokes a sweet nosatalgia anytime that I hear it. The House of the Rising Sun...by The Animals. Down and dirty real life blues roots. I'm still surprised that they got away with it. They played it on the radio right along with Peter, Paul & Mary and other such trite stuff. Jimmy Hendrix version of 'The Star Spangled Banner' should be getting daily radio play these days. That masterpiece is an exemplary model of America's freedom. So much more inspirational then the banal speaches the politicians keep trotting out for us to 'get behind'. |

Oh man I could never choose just one. Late 60s-70s is my favorite era of music.
I agree with kitt on all three of his choices...especially House of the Rising Sun and California Dreamin', I have always loved those. Ok, I'm going to add a few, I am not absolutely sure if all of these were in the 60s or the 70s, and I'm not going to bother to look it up, so bear with me. At any rate they'll be near that general era... San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair) -Scott McKenzie White Rabbit -Jefferson Airplane Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In -The Fifth Dimension Hurricane -Bob Dylan Happy Together -The Turtles Actually I think alot of those may have been from the 70s, except for the Turtles. So, sorry, I wasn't alive then so sometimes I get these things mixed up, plus I just woke up, so my brain ain't on straight just yet. Just be glad you didn't ask about the 70s because I could prattle on forever. As it stands, I will probably be back to add to this list... |

I like all the music from that time period. Sometime in February I think it is we are doing an 8th grade fundraiser and we are going to perform 60's songs. Its going to be a lot of fun.
