Was Bobby Knight wrong for what he did to the Player last Night? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I don't think it was a Big deal, the Player was looking down at the floor when Knight was trying to talk to him and Knight just took his hand and tap him on his chin so he could look him in the eye while he was talking to him. Plus the Player had no problem with it so I really don't know why ESPN is making this into a HUGE sports story

Tapped? I know the difference between a tap (what you do when you tap one on the shoulder when you want their attention) and what Bobby Knight did, by closing his hand into a fist and rather hard, put that fist very quickly to his chin.

The fact that the parents of the player had no problems with the way Bobby Knight disciplined their son should defintely mean ESPN should stop talking about it-lol The player himself said he had no problem with it,and his parents so why won't ESPN let it GOOOOOOOOOOOO-LOL

Maybe it wasn't a big problem, but it could have been. If that kid's teeth or tongue are in the wrong position, he could have a couple busted teeth, and maybe a mangled tongue. He hit him pretty hard.

I guess I was just surprised that ESPN was still making it a big issue after hearing his parents were not bothered by it

I think he should be fined at the very least. What he did was committ assault, plain and simple. Him being a coach doesn't justify that kind of behavior.

You're damn right that was an assault. The guy had his hand balled up in a fist, and smacked him right on the chin. You put your hands on someone in an aggressive manner like that, and it's assault. What if your boss did that to you?? Are you saying you wouldn't consider it assault if someone did that to you??

I guess Knight felt disrespected by the guy not looking him in the eye while he was talking so he wanted to get his attention.

Where in the sport of basketball does it say that if you're a coach, it's okay to ball up your fist, and smack someone on the chin?? I'm not understanding your logic on this one.
