Were "The Academy" and "Jo's Cousin" more attempts for a Spinoff Series? (Like Season 2's "Brian and Sylvia?")

Yes, they were and I hate it when shows do that. Married With Children had a couple of episodes like that too. They show the academy boys in The Big Fight too, and that is way worse then the Academy.

I liked it too compared to the other spinoff attempts. At least our girls were in the episode. :P

I like both "The Academy" and "Jo's Cousin". At least the girls have bigger roles in those two than they did in "Brian and Sylvia".

In The Academy, I also thought Jo and the hot guy (kind of looks like Al Pacino in the second Godfather) who was supposed to be her date had good chemistry.

The makeover over the phone was the best part of Jo's Cousin and the fact that Tony was hot. Also, I actually did like the Academy, it's the Big Fight that I hate.

Of all the spinoff attempts, "The Academy" is the one I hate the least. Like said, at least all the girls have major roles in it, so it's got that going for it.
I used to hate Jo's Cousin, but while far from a classic episode, it wasn't as bad as I remembered. I did like Jo calling Blair for make-up advice and Blair asking her what shaped face her cousin had. Didn't she say it looked like an egg? |

I think its cool that there are two well known Canadian actors in the 'Jo's Cousin' ep. Megan follows who played Terry (we know her from Anne of Green Gables) and Donnely Rhodes who played Jo's uncle Sal (he played the dad in CBC's Danger Bay and is now on Da vinci's Inquest)...

Jo: "I think it's more like an apple." Blair, giggling: "Macintosh or Delicious?" I guess NBC must have thought "The Academy" had potential, since it got two back-door pilots/episodes. |
