It's been almost a full year since we've received the Season 2 set, what's going on with the final two seasons? And for that matter, what about their final album "The Partridge Family Bulletin Board" (especially since everything else has been issued on CD)? Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Hell, I am surprised they were able to sell the first two for $24.99 considering all the music that had to be cleared. I feel that is what is holding up future releases. I love the show and sure would like to complete it on dvd...someday.

This is a Sony release and from what I have read they are not the best dvd releasing studio often leaving big gaps between season releases. I think Paramount released all 5 seasons of The Brady Bunch within 18 months. I am sure I read on a Partridge Family fan site that they show is due for a season 3 release in March of this year. Don't believe it until you see it in the shops though. |

Sony is rather slow in releasing shows but I just have a feeling it is something to do with the music. Maybe a contract change occured starting with Season 3? I don't know but I assume the music is (was) published by Screen Gems (now Columbia/Sony Pictures). I'm sure the songwriters made more money than anyone else involved with the show. I figure The Muppet Show is also being held up because of the music rights. I know this is why it took so long to get Hawaii Five-O and WKRP in Cincinnati on dvd.
You are correct though in that with this show the music is the show and substituting any of it just would not make sense here. |
