Default "Breakdown" is pretty stupid

That suspenseful tale of the guy being totally paralyzed after a car crash goes beyond belief for me. I just can't believe a coroner wouldn't be able to tell he's alive except when he sees tears coming out of the poor soul. If he's still alive his body would still be warm and he'd have a heartbeat and pulse. The coroner must have gotten his degree out of a cereal box.

All of works of cinema by Hitchcock are stupid except for the 1929 Hitchcock motion picture titled "Blackmail".

You have a good point in that the ending is a little illogical. I think the episode is good, but I would have done the ending differently.

My idea for the ending would have the coroner turning out to be the guy that the car crash victim fired, and the coroner realizing he is really alive through the tears, but decides to get rid of him anyways since he fired him. The coroner would say something like "You told me to move on and find a different job, so I did." It would show the car crash victim looking up to find the coroner putting something over him to suffocate him. Then Hitchcock would come on and give the usual ending by saying that the coroner was found out and eventually received prison time.
