Default Natalie West - 'Problem????'

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a problem between Natalie West (Chrystal) and Roseanne and that's why she left the series. Also because in the Halloween commentery ep of series 4 Roseanne makes mention of everyone in the Opening Title sequence except for her and then in some ofg the interviews Natalie West's face is blurred out.

I've read that they had some falling out.

As for her face being blurred -- I wonder if Natalie didn't give the company permission -- as I am sure she is not being paid any royalties -- to use her image in anything other than the show.

I've wondered the same thing. I mean, she was in almost every episode in the first and second season, but then in the third and fourth season, she was finally credited in the opening credits, but wasn't even in half the episodes. When season 5 came around, she wasn't credited, and was only in a few of the episodes. She was in one episode for season 6, none for teh season 7, and made her last appearance in the opening for season 8. Weird.

Natalie West had a fight with Roseanne at the End of Season 4 and reportedly called her a "bitch but then again what else would she be, she is married to Tom Arnold" So Roseanne kept her on the show for contractural reasons but reduced to pointless parts, However from what I've heard they have made up seeing as she was at the first season release party plus roseanne doesn't have the best memory...

and as for the blurred face, lots of DVD companies do this in special features to show who you are supposed to be focusing on...

I had no idea about all this . . . I was figuring it was something like this, since all of a sudden she is in the opening credits, and then is not in the show at all. Where'd you find this out?

The official last ep. that Crystal was ever in was the first ep. of season 08 (Roseanne's baby shower). The official last mention of Crystal ever was the last ep. of season 08 when Roseanne mentioned briefly to Jackie that Crystal had seen Dan eating a burrito or something when he should have been jogging.

Crystal was never one of my fav characters and I was elated when she was cut from the cast.

As far as NW being blurred from the documentary, the producers of "Knots Landing" had to do that with actress Constance McCashin's face in the "KL" reunion movie (when the actors where in character) and she wasn't even able to be mentioned in another more recent "KL" reunion (when the actors were reminiscing about the series) as CMcC refused to give permission to have any part of her likeness shown. I am going to assume that NW refused to have her image shown - though with Roseanne, you never know.

The reason why Roseanne would have to get NW's permission to use her likeness in the Halloween documentary and not the entire eps. is because, technically, the Halloween documentary is an actual new thing as opposed to the Halloween eps. It can get VERY confusing at times when it comes to what needs to have a performers permission. Anything made after the series officially went off of the air (other than the original eps.) needs everyone's permission to use their image and even voice as it is considered a separate entity from the actual series.
