Talking Before my time but still love it.

Hi! I'm new to this thread so I hope I am doing this right . I'm 19 & just love this show! I have all the episodes & have just recently purchased 2 of the lost episode collections *at 44 bucks each I have to pace myself lol*

My dad was in junior high when this show first aired so he grew up watching it-which led to my siblings & I watching it (my dad use to watch it every night & still does). My GrandFather played pool with Jackie Gleason on a regular basis, I believe this was 10 or so years before the HoneyMooners aired. I suppose that's why I like this show so much as it holds many memories & connections with my family. There's not to many people my age that understand the greatness of this show or heck even know what it is. I've run into some but most put "The Honeymooners" together with the awful "Honeymooner movie" I won't even go there.

Well just wanted to introduce myself & am looking forward to meeting other fans of this show.

Hey, that's pretty cool that your grandfather used to play pool with Jackie Gleason. I'm assuming this was in New York since you said it was before the show aired? Any other info you could tell us? Anyway, welcome to the board, hopefully you'll stay active.

Yes it was in Brooklyn, New York & Jackie Gleason was known as "The Masked Marvel" GrandFather & Father said he wore some type of mask that covered his entire face -with exception of the eyes of course - My dad said he remembers going to the pool hall once & his father had told him "The Masked Marvel is coming tonight." Once he started to become a big star people knew who he was but my GrandFather who was an amazing pool player- I guess earned Jackie's approval so he knew who he was way before most did.
I will be staying active in this message board no worries about that I've been looking for this type of board for a while now.

All right! Welcome!

I was watching about 25 years before you were born. It's the best show, and it's great to hear from someone who is "connected." I am glad you can appreciate it with all the crap that's out now.

Keep writing!

Thanks for the welcome !
I've always loved this show but these past few months I've become addicted. I hear ya on all the crap they have showing today! I flipped on one of my use-to-be favorite TV shows & found myself rolling my eyes & actually comparing it to The Honeymooners *Honeymooners won of course lol*. Eh I've always been told I was born at the wrong time & now I know why .
See you around the board!
