Default Daylight Saving Time ends tonight!

Don't forget to set the clocks back before bed! Yes, it's an extra hour of sleep(or for me an extra hour of being bored ). We go back to DST 3 weeks earlier, in Mid-March starting next year.

Default Daylight Saving Time Yields Massive Daylight Surplus

Funny you should mention this.
http://www.theonion.com/content/node...nion_rss_daily

WASHINGTON, DC—Energy Secretary Samuel W. Bodman announced Monday that the country's seven-month-long effort to conserve sunshine has resulted in the largest national daylight surplus since October 2005.

"We have built up over 200 hours of this precious, life-giving resource," said Bodman, noting that "the sun's rays are not going to last forever." "We have decided it would be most prudent not to squander this valuable daylight by distributing it to Americans, instead suggesting that they all just wake up a little earlier."

Bodman said the surplus will be stored in the Strategic Daylight Reserve—a system of opaque, sealed-off underground tanks located in Arizona—and only tapped in the case of the sun burning out or a particularly rainy afternoon.

And we'll fall back the first Sunday in November. The exact time we spring forward will be the second Sunday in March.

So... March 11, 2007 and November 4, 2007, two dates to remember.

I know, I keep hearing about this "sun burning out" theory all the time. I wonder how many more weeks we have before that happens!

YES! I love this time of year. I can't really explain why, but I really love when it gets dark early. Some days it's already dark at 4:30pm. And I like the idea of an extra hours' sleep.

I'm the opposite, that's exactly why I hate turning the clocks back. Nighttime sky at 4:30 pm isn't cool to me. I like the extended daylight we get in the summertime.

Damnit. I thought the "first week of November" time change went into effect this year. I have been telling people that, including my Step Aerobics classmates. Geez... They're not going to trust me ever again!

The longer time change will not take in effect until 2007. Here's what Wikipedia says about it. I read this back in April, but I didn't pay attention to the actual year number:

Yeah. This is the last Saturday I am going to get off work when it's rather lightish. It'll start getting dark next Saturday and on. It's also going to be quite difficult for me to walk around the track right after I get off work just to make it on time before the early sun sets. *cringes*

Totally, totally depressing....
