Default Florida getting all bent out of shape when Michael and the guys were going to sing...

at the nightclub made me wanna scream. That woman acts like Michael FIRST OF ALL, was going to get into the nightclub. He was under 18, they wouldn't let him in, as they showed later on. Secondly, she acted like he was going to be carousing with drinks in his hand or something. HE AND THE GUYS WERE ENTERING A CONTEST, nothing more. Damn! Her overdramatics in this situation (as well as other times) really annoyed me.

My god this character got on my last nerves! Man, she was holding everybody back with her holier than thou wah-wah act. Makes me like Clair Huxtable better, the only time she held someone back was Cliff, and it was just a hoagie!

Yes, it was just a contest, it wasn't like he was going to a 2 Live crew concert or something...

I know you do sweetie. I love her too. The dramatics, well, at times they were unnecessary or were used to hinder things at times.

I know, it's not like Michael was going to go down there to drink. You know, after watching Good Times over and over for years, and paying attention to lots of scenes and characters, I have to say this: Florida is very annoying..... I love the character, but she annoys the hell out of me. I have come to that conclusion. She is VERY old fashion, and you know what, shoot me for saying this, I see why James was frustrated half of the time. Florida wouldn't let him or the kids do ANYTHING! His character was taken off for a reason. If it wasn't for Florida, the Evans would have been at least $7,000 richer. ($5,000 for a commercial, and $2,000 that James found and should have kept.)

Florida was bossy, selfish, and old fashion. She was the primary reason why they were poor.

Ouch! Old fashion yes, selfish..not quite. Like I said in another post, God didn't intend her broke ass to stay broke since she always used God as an excuse. God loves her but good god....

OMG, Kool....BRAVO!!!! ThinkPink, YOU MAKE ME

I agree with both of you. I just don't agree with the selfish part.

And it's so friggin hilarious that you said what you said Kool abt James and his being annoyed and frustrated and mad. I was thinking of James the other day. I was like, "Damn, I know why James was getting upset, had symptoms of high blood pressure and so forth, because whenever something financially positive occurred, the rug was pulled out from under him." I went on and on thinking that the family didn't like James being so mad, yet, they didn't help matters any with their attitude towards him and/or his actions. Screw that drink and DO THAT DAMN COMMERCIAL!!!!! Like NOT DOING THE COMMERCIAL, would suddently stop alcohol abuse among kids in the ghetto. Gimme a break lady.

I felt really terrible for James, poor man, he should have ran off with some other woman and take those kids with you! Every episode, Flordia was on her soapbox, like her opinion will change the world or something... like Michael rooming with a white girl(it's not like the boy has jungle fever), Thelma marrying Ebay(?)(Thelma wasn't a kid anymore, let her make her own decision), and forcing J.J to tell his rich date(Dee from Moesha) that he lost his job(let the man handle it!)

I just had to tell it like it is. Florida was selfish, not wanting James to go to Alaska to make good money was selfish on her part. She always wanted things to go HER way. It was either Florida's way, or no way.

Good Lord, Sweet Jesus, now, you and many of you know how I feel abt that Alaska job.

Florida and her soapbox was irritating as hell. Yes, things can be annoying, especially for a man, when he is offered something better and here is your spouse not supporting you. I don't even want to get into the fact that Michael got into that scuffle with the stupid gang. That sh*t would happen regardless if James' was around or not. Look at the facts, James was alive, and in the home and it didn't scare Michael enough to say in FRONT OF HIM THAT THEY WERE GOING TO GET BACK AT THAT GANG! I am not saying it wasn't dangerous in the ghetto, but this job thing occurred after Florida got robbed, Thelma was accosted, etc. It didn't deter James from thinking it was dangerous. They lived in the ghetto all their lives. They had a better handling of it than any other people who didn't live there. My God, I hate, I hate, I hate that Florida cried and cried that she didn't want James to go. Imagine, he could have made enough money in less than two months to get his family OUTTA THE GHETTO!!!!!!!!

GUYS, TELL ME, HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU WERE IN JAMES' SPOT AND OFFERED THAT JOB IN ALASKA??????

I understand that part, she didn't want to be far away from her huband. but, James wasn't getting any decent jobs in Chicago, and therefore, he had to take what was being offered. Lots of familes go through this. James was doing this for his family, Florida had to nerve to say he was doing it for himself. I didn't see her going out there to make money. James was an honest man, and was true to Florida, and big mouth Willona had to nerve to feed Florida that crap about him being "en-ter-tained" She should have minded her own business.
