Question DOES ANYONE ELSE HERE find it so frustrating when u are in a debate with someone.....

I do not mind debating when i disagree

i do it a lot in real life and on sites

BUT

DOES anyone else here find it SOOOOO Frustrating when u are debating something with someone
and they are losing the discussion
and so INSTEAD Of arguing logically or intelligently

they just decide to insult you??? or try to change the subject completely?????

its so annoying, like they are not bright enough to discuss it so they want to resort to name calling

EXAMPLE---

Global warming is a serious issue because.... and u give them facts and statistics
and they reply

"YEAH, WELL YOUR MOTHER IS FAT!"

and i just shake my head

anyone else find that kind of juvenile non-discussion annoying?

Lamont, it is obvious why you made this thread. You know Solomon visits the Chit Chat board. Another reason to cause trouble was this thread.

Don't worry Matt, there won't be any trouble on this thread. This moderator is home all day in rainy Beantown. The first personal attack, under lock and key it goes.

We are suppose to get that storm latter today. Sounds like it will be a huge storm.

It's bad here and getting worse. We've got some weather warning advisory going on. It's rainy and windy. It's so dark outside that it looks like it's dusk. Dismal, raw, terrible day here.

Yuck, it is sunny here now, but I don't think it will be for long if we get that.

How cold is it there? I know you guys have to worry about freezing rain and what not.

Actually Gilligan Fanatic, it might be obvious to you
but if u read the post, i made NO PERSONAL mention of any members and no personal insults, and i wont do so, i didnt want this to be a LAMONT vs ________ thread at all,
it might be true that SOME MEMBERS fit the category more than others, but i would not call anyone out ( I WILL SAY THAT IF YOU ASSUME it is about ONE MEMBER in particular, perhaps that relates more to YOUR OPINION of that member then to the thread itself)

YES it is true, that sometimes on these boards, SOME members fall into that category
BUTTTTT its like that in real life all the time

at work, there are people I have to supervise and you will try to explain to them what they are doing wrong, or what they need to do to improve their job performance, and out of the blue they will say to me "WELL, JOE WAS LATE 2 TIMES LAST WEEK!" and im like, OK great, what does that have to do with why you are a bad employee? and they will answer back "YOU JUST DONT LIKE ME!" and on and on

they wont DEAL with the issue and they try to change the subject or jump on someone else instead of discussing the matter

it makes me want to pull my hair out!

it is annoying when it happens on the boards, BUT i can just not read them if i choose, Its EVEN WORSE in real life, because there is no IGNORE button when it comes to 1 on 1 interactions

nope tvresearcher I am not
BUT i have found that if you are clear cut in your response
and try to give some BACK UP to your ideas (u know, facts, thoughts, opinions, etc) instead of just spouting out ideas with no merit and no logic to them----
that people tend to understand what u mean and why u feel that way

LOL
