Is it in fact their living room? Or is it a den/family room? It looks so different than the Jeffersons living room, as far as the layout is concerned. Usually on sitcoms neighbors homes are the exact same way, EXCEPT, they have the door on the opposite wall, or something to make it look different (aside from the furniture and fixtures, etc.) Think of ROSEANNE and how her neighbor the Beaumans living room and kitchen had the exact same layout (even Roseanne stated that is the house she could have had if she married someone better).
So, my question again is, is that supposed to be their living room or a family room? It just seems so "cheesy" to be a living room. I can't imagine Helen Willis having such a bland living room. It didn't look comfortable at all. |

yeah, it did look like a den, that what I always thought, but then the front door is right there. It seems so small and closed in, not to many people could walk around in that room at the same time. lol

I think it has to do with the location of the Willis apartment. Since they lived a floor or a couple of floors below the Jeffersons I think that's why their living room was so small. In high rise apartments, the higher you go the better the apartment and the more space you get and the bigger price you pay.

Oh okay, well that helps to explain the difference in size in comparison to both apartments

I did like their living room -- with all the books. It was funky, to agree with what someone said earlier.

I just discovered while watching the episode BROTHER TOM while the cast is in that room doing that dancing while Tom is feeling uncomfortable, Helen tells everyone, "C'mon let's all go to the living room." Everyone proceeds to follow Helen to the right of that room they were in. So I guess they did have a living room and that room where they all gathered was their den. Funny, the Jeffersons didn't have a den. So, the Jeffersons being on a higher floor, they had the smaller apartment. Weird.
