Default Season 3 sales...a success?

Gathering from what I've read of fans' buying experience and sell-outs and the fact that Season 3 was the most-voted release on this week's poll, it seems Season 3 was another sales success. I think this solidifies the release of Season 4 by early 2007. At least, I hope so. Let's hope they also include "The Facts Of Life Goes to Paris" as a bonus feature or bonus disc.

Great job so far Sony!

I'M WITH YOU, ROBERT13, BUT INSTEAD OF 2007, I'LL BE GREEDY & ASK FOR SEASON 4 BY TH END OF THE YEAR. THAT IS, UNLESS SONY WOULD CHOOSE A LATER DATE TO PUT SOME GOOD EXTRAS ON. THEN I'D WAIT AN EXTRA YEAR!

I'M HOPING FACTS OF LIFE GOES TO PARIS WOULD BE INCLUDED, AS IT WAS LISTED WITHIN THE 209 EP'S. IT SHOULD RIGHTFULLY BE THE FIRST EP WE SEE. MY ONLY ? IS WHETHER OR NOT THEY WILL FEATURE IT AS A WHOLE, AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY PLANNED, OR BROKEN UP INTO 4 EP'S.

I CANNOT REMEMBER. WHEN FIRST AIRED, IT WASN'T DIVIDED INTO FOUR 1/2 HOURS WAS IT? I SEEM TO REMEMBER IT BEING EITHER A 2 HOUR SPECIAL, OR 1 HOUR WAS SHOWN ONE WEEK, AND THE NEXT HOUR SHOWN THE FOLLOWING WEEK. WHOEVER REMEMBERS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

ANYWAYS, I FINALLY GOT MINE TODAY AT TARGET, AND WAS PROUD AS A PEACOCK. CAN'T WAIT TO DELVE INTO THE EP'S, MOST LIKELY WATCHING MOST OF THEM BY THIS WEEKEND

ok, by the end of the year is insane... this is VERY VERY fast for Sony!! Usually their season releases are like years and years apart!!! so be thankful they are running a tight ship to squeeze out the 2 sets per year!! So sit and wait until march or april... becuase that's 5 months (the difference between these two releases) and i'm sure season 4 will be comming out around then... if you honestly think that they will release another set before christmas then you must think that pigs can fly!

I'm guessing that the fourth season will come out sometime in March.

OF COURSE I DON'T THINK THEY WILL RELEASE SEASON 4 THAT FAST. I JUST SAID I WAS GREEDY AND WANTED IT THAT FAST.

I READ SOMEWHERE THAT THIS 3RD SEASON RELEASE WAS THE QUICKEST RELEASE SONY HAS EVER HAD, AS FAR AS A TV DVD IS CONCERNED; AND FURTHERMORE, IT WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE SALES OF THE FIRST DVD SET.

ALTHOUGH I WANT ALL THE DVD'S ASAP, QUALITY DVD'S THAT IS, AS DOES EVERYONE ELSE, I ASSURE YOU I REALIZE IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME. IF WE GET 1-2 A YEAR, I WOULD BE SURPRISED, BECAUSE THAT WOULD REALLY BE SETTING SOME RECORDS, AND I COULD NOT EVEN IMAGINE THAT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS OF NOT HAVING ONE DVD, TO THINK THAT IT'S POSSIBLE TO NOW GET ALL 9 SEASONS WITHIN 4-5 YEARS? "INCONCEIVABLE!"

HOWEVER, THE WAY TECHNOLOGY IS GOING, COULD FLY BY THEN, SO...

I thought "The Facts Of Life Goes to Paris" was aired like a tv-movie much like "The Facts Of Life Down Under" was. So, I hope it is a complete 2-hour movie on the next set. Some behind-the-scenes footage from the movie would be great. I think it would be most-effective if Sony gave the movie a single bonus disc and promoted the set with this special bonus by placing a label on the front of the case. We'll have to wait and see. But I'm excited that the waiting period has already begun for Season 4.

I haven't finished watching Season 3 yet. I am stretching it over 2 weeks. I watched "Front Page" last night, a very powerful episode. It was quite dramatic. I also watched "A Friend In Deed". I love when Mrs. Garrett says "What is she making...a bomb?" and Natalie says "YES! YES!" I thought Blair was really a good friend to Jo in that episode too.

As far as Sony's releases, does anyone know what series they have completed on dvd. I know they have released all of "Sanford & Son" and "Good Times" and "What's Happening!!" Maybe strong sales are leading them to focus on releasing all of "The Facts Of Life". The next 5 months are going to be interesting.

It's not the quickest release for Sony. It was 24 weeks between the release of FOL1/2 and FOL3. It was only 21 weeks between Flying Nun seasons 1 and 2, 18 weeks between Bewitched seasons 1 and 2, and there have been a number of other shows that had a shorter wait between releases. It's all here on this thread.

Also, M*A*S*H and Friends both went by sooo fast with their DVD releases in between their seasons. But those two were not Sony DVD's, though. Plus, I've heard that some M*A*S*H DVD seasons only had a mere 3 months in between releases.

Default Amazon Sales

Here is a link to amazon to check the top 100 bestsellers for television DVD's . Currently FOL season 3 is #94 on the top 100. Although this is not too impressive, this is only for sales in Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers...4?ie=UTF8&pg=1
I really enjoyed my day off yesterday watching season 3. Although we could not finish all the episodes we got up New York New York. Those who replied voted this episode as their favorite in the thread I posted. So we will save this episode for Sunday. I hope everybody has a great weekend watching their DVD's.

Default we're lucky they released it this late

It seems that Sony has finally discovered what makes sales for tv dvd's a success. I feel that Facts of Life couldn't have been released in a better way not to mention time for the release.

Sony awhile back had major problems (conversion from Columbia pictures to Sony) I feel that is why alot of shows that released prior to this are struggling. and it seems that the longer sony holds off on a dvd release set for the next season the more people forget about the show being on DVD and loosing sales for each next season. The Jeffersons clearly was way more popular than The Facts of Life it's odd that the sales were not as great.

It is a known fact that each dvd season set that is released gets less and less sales, The first seasons of each series (if they do that well) gets another release, and from there on after sales drop for each season release, which is common. If you notice they make a huge deal out of the first seasons and they are quite quiet about other releases.

Let's just pray that sony keeps delievering more Facts on dvd in the future, It would be great to see some later episodes, it seems that the older episodes usually get more treatment (air play) than the later seasons of this show, when infact Seasons 5, 7, and 8 were terrific.

They could promote and dramatically increase sales for season four with the Facts of Life goes to Paris Movie,
Season Seven Sales with major guest stars appearing and Including cast member George Clooney, which will probably be on the front cover with the cast in that set. I feel that if they get this far, it will be on TV every where showing this season in the media and reviews because of George Clooney

Season 8 with Academy Actress Cloris Leachman joining

and finally season 9 with the Down under movie.

There is alot of great stuff to come within these DVD sets and Facts of life was the perfect show to never get dull because of all the additions and 'Highlights' that the show featured, Sony is lucky to have such a diversified show to promote.

That movie is from season eight, not nine.

I hope season three sold enough for Sony to consider releasing more seasons. The show was very dramatic during the Eastland seasons. There's not that many episodes for fans to laugh at. The store years are the best IMO.

Umm, this doesn't really make sence, Flying Nun was a terrible show with like low ratings, why would it be more sold than Facts of Life?
