Default The Diary Episode

For any of you that watch Family Matters did you notice that Family Matters sort of copied this storyline? Basically the same thing. George tries to read Louise diary all through the night. Carl tries to read Harriette's diary in the middle of the night. Both George and Carl pretend they were sleep walking when they are busted going into their wives night stand drawers. At the end of the episodes it turned out that Louise and Harriette planted fake diaries.

The part I find really funny is where Bently and George are searching in the trash and they come upon those Playboy magazines and each one sticks a mag in their back pocket!

I also found it funny when George stayed up and waited all that time to go to the night stand drawer and he tip toed and was very quiet and after all of that Louise just opened her eyes and busted him-lol. That was too funny.

Another episode with a plot that is fairly rudimentary but the actors really bring this one to life. I remember when this was first shown on CBS in late 1981. This is the last one they showed with Paul Benedict for almost 2 years. I really missed seeing him in the show. It was missing something without him. On the other hand I don't miss the Willises in this and other episodes. Once Bentley and Lionel were gone they relied too much on who was left and those others were best taken in limited doses, not in every single show. I liked it better when they mixed and matched which supporting players would show up in a given episode.

Wonder why Lionel and Jenny roles decreased in Season 8

This was a funny ep, my favorite part as well was when George stayed up all night. Louise was on her toes. this was a good ep. And Mr. Bentley he so sweet, even when George reads the diary.. Mr. Bentley still complements him that Mrs. J is cheating on a good man, or something to that effect.. I also like the part in the diary when George reads that Louise was cheating on him with a mechanic.. we dont have a car, but I sure needed the tuneup. lol!!!

Something worth researching. I remember watching the show in 81-82. The 2 parter The Separation that opened the season is all about them and has one of their best scenes in the whole series, deceptive in that Mike Evans quit right after that. Without him, Jenny is out of place. If they had stayed I could've seen them getting along without Marla Gibbs, but without Mike and Paul Benedict they needed all the hep they could get.

Nope. They both do it. You can clearly see Bently doing it because his back is to the camera. George's back is facing the wall, we are seeing him from the front, but he is putting one there too. And those mags remain there the entire time. You can see a small "bump" in their backsides.
