Ron Howard was not in the series at this time. I beleave he did it via a letter he mailed from Greenland.

True! I remember that episode. Loribeth needed $800 to go visit Richie in Greenland and Marion went on a game show where the audience felt sorrow for the contestant with the saddest story. It is one of my favorites.
