Another ODD Explanation for Florida's Disappearance in ep-"The Enlistment" - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Instead of saying something about a funeral couldn't they have just said that Florida and Willona was out SHOPPING? Especially since Willona wasn't in the episode either-lol Never saw the point of writing in all this NEW extra stuff when they could have just kept the absence close to the script as possible

The part about James not knowing which family member of Florida's passed away was dumb, too (Florida called and James told her to have a good time with aunt whoever and she was the one that died). Florida certainly traveled a lot for someone that had no money.

I think they wanted to have Florida away in the episode because there was a sense that this whole ordeal happened over the course of a few days

If Flo came from a big family I could see how James would get her Aunts mixed up especially since they lived miles and miles away. Also it's most likely that FLo took the grey hound, WAY cheaper than a train or plane

Maybe I am closer to my family than most, because I can tell one aunt from another. I don't care how big a family is.

If you read my post, I said that "I could see how James wouldn't know which one of Florida's aunts had died." Not his own aunt of course. If you and your spouse lived hundreds of miles away and you have lived far away for 20 something odd years, and you hardly visit their family, how in the world would you remember who each and every person was in their family?

I have no prob with the funeral reason. Why would she be out shopping be a better reason. Either way she left. Willona could have been doing "inventory" or something.

Brie, I totally agree with you. I can't keep my other half's family straight, and he can't keep mine straight either.

Why not if it's your own aunt??? Of course you would know who people are in your family. But that doesn't mean that your spouse would know who everyone was.

They just could have tied their absence to something that was already in the script. If John amos was absent just say that he was working overtime at Bradys, if Florida was absent just say she was out at Marshall Fields ith Willona, if J.J was absent just say that he was out on a date with Boom Boom Belinda instead some ART CONVENTION crap-lol

The whole part of the episode was suppose to be about JJ joining the Army. And if Flo was at Marshall Fields, James and JJ wouldn't have had time to lose their jobs. And then have JJ go down to enlist and then have James go down and get JJ back. All this happening while Flo was out shopping at Marshall Fields

Wouldn't have made any sense.
