Default Marla Gibbs should have told that she couldn't return to the show after her spinoff

failed, I just watched the episode with Carmen and she was Funny as hell. It would have been a new Maid for the new decade of the Jeffersons and bringing back Florence was just dumb. Her and George battles had become old by 1981 anyway so why not keep the Puero Rican Maid for the remainder of the series? She was more LIVELY than Florence ever was and just brought a lot of energy to the show. I felt the same way about her as i did the first Alan Willis

I agree she was funny, and so was Marla Gibbs.. I cant say that the show would have failed leaving carmen on. She was funny and that is what mattered. Would they have had the same chemistry? Who knows, but if they had to replace Florence, Carmen would be a great substitute.

I never said that Florence was not good. She was great, I stated carmen was good as well. Why is it so hard for you to understand that someone out there is funny as well. No one is dogging her. I think Marla Gibbs is a wonderful person. And as far as her personal she has done a lot more for community than a lot of other stars. No one is taking away her spotlight. She is damn good and there will never be another like her.. But at the time she had her own show and obviously they were out to look for another maid, and carmen was good at the part. Grow up
