Veronica Mars slipped last night to a 1.9 rating. This is exactly Runaway's average and now its cancelled. It's an awful retention rate of Gilmore Girls (3.1) and as optimistic as I want to be, I'm really scared for my favorite show.
THE BAD 1) CW is producing more older-skewing series, and they may abandon this 'youthful' image since Smallville, 7th Heaven, and Gilmore Girls are all likely to be gone this time next year. Veronica Mars is reflective of the youthful image The CW may want to get rid of. 2) In its third season, a fourth one is expensive to produce. THE GOOD 1) With 7th Heaven gone this year, and possibly Gilmore Girls and Smallville gone by the end of next year, a familiar face like Veronica Mars may be wanted around. 2) It's Dawn Ostroff's favorite kid. 3) Critical praise drawing attention to the fledgling CW Just wanted to make sure we're all prepared to fight for one of TV's best shows. I can't imagine going through another '3 miracle seasons and you're out' Arrested Development, Roswell, American Dreams, etc. |
