I agree. It's really tough to say until it happens. And even so, I think falling in love with someone else wouldn't mean you're replacing your spouse in your heart. It would just mean you found someone else to share your life with.

This is interesting that this thread got posted... I have an older stepsister, she is two years older than me, so she is 23. Anyway, she was in this very serious relationship with this guy, and they were very much in love. Soulmates, if you will.

With absolutely no warning at all... He died. This was almost a month ago. I'm not going to go into the details... But it was sudden and absolutely no warning at all. It wasn't until after he died, that I found out my stepsister was ENGAGED to be married to him.

Talk about a major shock! My stepsis is having a really hard time dealing with this right now, because she lives out of state and he was living here, but he was going to move in with her over Thanksgiving next month.

Poor stepsis. I would be seriously traumatized if something like that happened to me.

I'm really sorry about that, PZelda.

Like others have said, if I met someone who I fell in love with, I might marry again. Love seems to be one of those things that just happens.

Maybe, after some time. It's too easy to say "no way," but some people are miserable and lonely after such a thing to have happen. And you really wouldn't be looking to "replace" your significant other anymore than you're looking to just move on with your life.
