Default directv upgrade

i just got off the phone with directv

i had normal service with two dvrs

they gave me the following

a new 4mpeg hd dvr @ $299 and an instant $100 rebate

then a credit on my bill for $10 a month for a year

then free hd for 4 months

then free showtime for 6 months

and a free 5 lnb dish installed

this will allow the locals to come in hd, when it gets to my area

theres also a starz $25 rebate after two months of service, so its free for 2 months that way as well

another nice thing is the new hd dvr, doesnt need the land line phone hooked to it

i dont have one, only a cell phone

so if your a directv customer, call retention at 800 824 9081

and see what they offer you to stay

i told them the cable companies are knocking at my door

and they are

we have a choice of three cable companies,a nd they are fighting over customers

i told the exact truth

this time----

3 cable companies are after my business

they are offering all sorts of --deals--

if you would like to keep a paying long term customer, hook me up

the $10 off for a year and the showtime for 6 months were spit out in 2 seconds

it took some asking for the hd, recorder

and a little more for the 4mpeg latest model

im on a couple deal wedsites, much like this one

we discuss all sorts of good deals and semi-scams

i got the plan through that info

im very happy with directv

great picture and sound

it works except when a huge storm comes by

i wasnt going to leave them

i just wanted a little better plan

from what i read, ill have high def locals througyh the directv dish in about 6 months

cool beans

if anyone has direct

it costs nothing to give it a try

the key is call customer retention, not the normal people who are just ip employees

some of those folks are into deals about like some of us are into the tv addict stuff

when ever i buy anything

i search fatwallet and slickdeals

for codes, price matches, cash back, scams, refurbished stuff

etc etc

i save bigtime, thanks to a little reading

i just got a dyson animal vacuum for $307 shipped and no tax

its about $500 at sears with tax

it sucks, but slick and fatwallet do not

You know I was actually thinking of switching to Direct. Dish Network can be complete jerks to their long-time customers, completely refusing to budge when it comes to upgrades-- while they have great deals for new customers. I had to pay full price when I upgraded the original reciever to a DVR, and then when we upgraded that to an HD reciever a year later, same thing. Maybe I should have you do all my bargaining lol.

hi, you got that right about dish network. that's the reason we have directv. when i called to tell dish network to cancel our service, they were all for doing everything they could to keep us (thought i never was going to get off the phone). i told them that it was too late that they should have gotten off the offers when i called inquiring about upgrades etc. thanks

thats why i only talk to retention dept employees, no matter what i ant

they know the bacons on the line

same thing worked with charter internet for over a year

i knew fiber optic was on the way

i played them for the chumps they are

so whats the worst that can happen if you have disn net now??

you go to direct and get all the new customer stuff for free

theres options

plenty of them
