Did you know John Wayne was on the intro of the pilot episode of Gunsmoke?

Yes, I had always wanted to see it and I got the Annivesary DVD Set of the show and was happy to finaly see it. I can't imagine him playing Marshall Dillon. It would have been very strange. I am glad he turned down the roll.

i would like to find news coverage of the death of john wayne. i remember at the time how shocked my family was when he died. we knew he had been sick and all, but we figured he would beat the cancer. id love to see it again

I used to be a big fan of the J man, but then I saw footage of him going on about how the white man is superior.

The more I looked into it, the more I discovered about his white supremacy beliefs.

I was really let down, it really changed my opinion of him.

well dont be too hard on the duke, he was a flawed man, yes
but a lot of people have beliefs we dont agree with, but it doesnt change the joy they bring to us with their works

PS there is a great cd set out there called

CELEBRITIES AT THEIR WORST, its like a 4 volume series of cds, with all sorts of candid celebrity moments--- for instance they have Ray Charles recorded live on stage getting into a nasty arguement with a band member, britney spears recorded on mike, insulting ******** people, Col Sanders from KFC in old age--- outtakes of a commerical filming where he is clearly out of it, etc etc etc, and they have a john wayne drunk speech too, lots of crazy stuff like that

hard to find but well worth it
