Anyone remember The King Family Show from 1965 to 1966? The large, musical family earned their own show as a result of viewer response to appearances on The Hollywood Palace. There was also a revival in 1969 as a replacement for one of TV's biggest flops, Turn-On. Both versions featured The King Sisters and The King Cousins. One of The King Cousins, Tina Cole played Katie on My Three Sons. Also, The king Family appeared in a number of holiday specials that aired in syndication.

....the original hour-long version of "THE KING FAMILY SHOW" did quite well as a mid-season replacement for "THE OUTER LIMITS" during the first half of 1965 (and it was quite enjoyable). But ABC's decision to move "SHINDIG!" to Saturdays at 7:30pm(et) that fall, and have the King Family follow it at 8, cutting them down to a half-hour format, and scheduling it directly against "I DREAM OF JEANNIE" and the second half of "THE JACKIE GLEASON SHOW", did not help their popularity....or their ratings, which is why the show went off in January 1966. Because of the viewing public's protests and outcry at ABC for cancelling their series, the Kings decided to appear in a series of new specials for syndication, usually timed to certain seasonal or holiday themes {i.e., "Back-To-School Show", and, of course, their traditional Christmas special}. This they did for at least five years. WNEW-TV, Channel 5 in New York, aired their first-run specials in the New York area. By the mid-'70s, the specials (and repeats) virtually ended.
