Default My Favorite Michael Evans Pro-Black Moment in the ep-"Florida's Rich Cousin"

Cousin Edgar: Yeah I was laid off

Michael: I bet they only let you go because were Black

Cousin Edgar: Well if it's that True they laid off the other guys because they were White

LOL

It's your favorite because it was one of Michael's worst comments?

You know, it just dawned on me. Maybe Michael said that to cousin Edgar because the writers probably thought the audience would think to themselves "He probably got laid off cuz he's black." So, the writers had Michael say it so that cousin Edgar could say that whites were laid off too. In other words, no racism involved.

Besides, if he was laid off because of his skin color, that would be violating the labor code, for which his company could get in trouble. Cousin Edgar wouldn't let that go, he was too smart for that. He'd be on that company quick with a lawyer by his side. So, Michael was stupid to even suggest that.

I know, for all we know, maybe to make it look good, they got rid of some bad "honkys"

To be serious here for a moment, a company would have to be real incompetent to get caught doing that. I know it happens, but still.

I liked that interaction because it threw it right back in Michael's face. People got laid off because they had to, not because what color they were.

This is why the show was so much better until they killed off james..

Michael had that radical mouth....The whites are screwing the blacks attitude...which was hysterical because of how radical the views were...

When James died...Michael died also because all that stuff went out the window....He wasn't a cute kid anymore and kind of grewout of it...and his character became boring as sin.
