Question Help with this website, please

I have sent a couple of e-mails about navigating the website to the powers that be asking general questions that I can't find the answers to. I haven't gotten any response. Can anyone help with answers or by steering me in the right direction to get a response?

1) What is the difference between "reply" and "quick reply?"

2) How/when were the "Jump the Sharks" created, and why can't I vote or add to them?

3) Can you reply to a specific post in a thread, or do you just have to tack it on at the end?

4) What is the significance of the different colors in the sitcom links? Sometimes a "message board" is highlighted even though I've never been there.

Thanks.

OK, DON'T PANIC. I WILL TRY TO HELP YOU, EVEN THOUGH I'M NOT ONE OF THE "POWERS THAT BE". NICE PEOPLE BY-THE-WAY, AND VERY BUSY, SO I'LL TRY TO HELP BOTH OF YOU OUT AND ANSWER YOUR ?'S. HOPE THIS HELPS

A QUICK REPLY IS SOMETHING YOU WOULD CLICK ON AT THE END OF THE POST, TO POST YOUR OWN COMMENTS.

I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT THE "JUMP THE SHARKS" THING, AS I NEVER PARTICIPATE. THAT IS ONE PHRASE THAT IS WAYYY OVER-USED SO I NEVER PAY ATTENTION. SORRY, CAN'T HELP ON THAT ONE.

IF YOU WANT TO RESPOND TO A PERSON'S SPECIFIC POST IN THE THREAD, YOU CAN CLICK ON "QUOTE", AND THAT PERSON'S ENTIRE QUOTE WILL COME UP IN A BOX. MOST PEOPLE CHOSE TO THEN POST THEIR OWN COMMENTS, USE A SMILY, ETC. UNDERNEATH THE QUOTE. IF YOU JUST WANT TO USE PART OF THE QUOTE, I JUST ERASE, OR BACK SPACE OVER THE PARTS I WANT TO LEAVE OUT.

OF COURSE WITH ALL THESE, YOU HIT "SUBMIT" OR "SAVE", AND YOUR NEW POST WILL BE ADDED.

NOW, JUST TO ADD A SIDE NOTE, IN CASE YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE EDIT BUTTON. THIS IS A GREAT TOOL THAT I'VE USED WITH MANY POSTS. SAY YOU'VE UPDATED YOUR COMMENT, BUT THEN YOU'RE READING IT OVER AND YOU WANT TO MAKE A CORRECTION. YOU CLICK ON "EDIT", AND YOUR COMMENT SHOULD APPEAR IN A BOX SO YOU CAN MAKE YOUR NECESSARY CHANGES. ONCE YOU'RE DONE, HIT "SAVE" IN THE LITTLE BOX BELOW, TO UPDATE. I'M USING THIS FEATURE EXTENSIVELY WITH A NEW THREAD I'VE STARTED ON THE FACTS OF LIFE (MY FAV SHOW), LISTING MANY CLIPS. IF YOU TAKE TOO LONG TO POST AGAIN (NOT SURE HOW MANY MINUTES HAVE TO ELAPSE), THER WILL BE A LITTLE BLUE NOTE STATING WHEN THE POST WAS LAST UPDATED. MINE CHANGES EVERYTIME I NOW ADD SOMETHING ONTO THE THREAD (1ST PAGE), BECAUSE, AS IT WERE, I'M GOING IN THERE DAILY.

ABOUT YOUR LAST QUESTION. I BELIEVE YOU'RE SPEAKING ABOUT THE TV SETS ON THE LEFT-HAND MARGINE? YEAH, I DIDN'T GET IT AT FIRST, EITHER.
MY CONCLUSION IS, THAT WHEN THEY ARE YELLOW, THERE IS A NEW POST TO THAT SHOW OR TOPIC, THAT YOU HAVE NOT SEEN BEFORE. SO, SAY I WENT TO THE FACTS OF LIFE BOARDS BEFORE I CAME HERE, AND THE TV WAS WHITE; BUT WHEN I RETURN, IT IS YELLOW. I THEN KNOW THAT SINCE MY LAST VIEWING, SOMEONE HAS POSTED SOMETHING. I THINK THIS IS A NEAT LITTLE FEATURE FOR A QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE.

ANYWAY, HOPE I DIDN'T RAMBLE ON TOO MUCH (IF YOU WERE TO READ ANY OF MY POSTS, THIS IS A USUAL THING FOR ME, ALTHOUGH I NEVER INTEND TO START OUT THAT WAY), AND THAT I WAS ABLE TO HELP YOU OUT.

LASTLY-I NOTICE YOU'RE PRETTY NEW HERE. THIS IS THE BEST SITE ON THE WEB, AND PEROPLE ARE PRETTY FRIENDLY & HELPFUL. SO, HAVE FUN AND ENJOY & HOPE TO SEE YA ROUND THE BOARDS

Jo jr-

Thanks for taking time to answer. You're right. This is a great site and I am really enjoying exploring several times a day. Do you know the difference between "reply" and "quick reply?"

P.S. I like the Facts of Life too, but mainly the ones with Mrs. G.

WELL, LET ME JUST TEST THIS OUT NOW. AFTER I UPDATE, I'LL HIT THE "REPLY" BUTTON. LET'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS, SHALL WE?

OK, NOW I'M HITTING THE "QUICK REPLY" BUTTON AS I USUALLY DO AFTER THIS POST, WHICH SHOULD JUST UPDATE THIS COMMENT.

SO, I CANNOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO.

ALL I KNOW FOR SURE, IS THAT WHEN YOU ARE NOT LOGGED IN, YOU CAN REVIEW THE POSTS ONLY, AND CANNOT COMMENT ON THEM, UNTIL YOU LOG YOURSELF IN.

GLAD I COULD BE OF HELP, AND BE SURE TO STOP AT THE FACTS OF LIFE FORUMS. TONS OF STUFF FOR THE YEARS MRS. G/CHARLOTTE RAE WAS ON!
FEEL FREE TO COMMENT OR EVEN START A THREAD.

US FACTS FANS LOVE NEWBEES, AND WE'RE ARE MIGHTY FRIENDLY (MOST OF THE TIME) GROUP OF PEOPLE. TO PROVE IT TO YA, POST A THREAD ON "FACTS" STATING YOU'RE A NEWBEE, AND SEE THE KIND WELCOME I KNOW YOU'LL RECEIVE

TAKE CARE, AND LET ME KNOW IF I CAN BE OF FURTHER ASSISTANCE, OK?

SEE YA ROUND THE BOARDS, MADAME X

Madame X, perhaps you can verify the e-mail address you were writing to me from. You just sent me another e-mail and I replied. It bounced back. I'm not sure if that also happened the first time. I replied to your original mail twice.

The Jump The Shark site was sold to TV Guide a few months ago. I'm not sure if they are accepting any new submissions. I would guess they would totally re-do the site at some point.

A "Quick Reply" will take you the bottom of the page with fewer posting options. A regular "Reply" will take you a whole seperate page where you have more options (smilies, uploading attachments, etc.) available.

Thanks for your efforts, TJ. I got your last message and also called my cable company to find out what was wrong before. The Jump the Shark and Reply questions have been answered.

I am looking forward to continued activity on this great site!
