'Pirates' Producers to Kill Off Bloom? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

HOLLYWOOD - Orlando Bloom's much-loved character in Pirates of the Caribbean will reportedly be killed off in the fourth installment of the Disney series, as producers struggle to "cut costs.”
According to British newspaper reports, Bloom's character Will Turner is deemed "not necessary" to the sea-faring saga, although his cast mates Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp are unaffected by the cutbacks.

A Disney insider tells British newspaper The Daily Star Sunday, "Pirates of The Caribbean has proved a huge hit and made a fortune for everyone involved.

"A huge chunk of that success is on the shoulders of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. Love interest Keira Knightley, who plays Elizabeth Swann is a
huge hit.

"But producers and directors are now trying to cut costs. Orlando Bloom has suffered as a result.

"The script for the fourth Pirates movie is being worked on and all the finances are in place but it was decided Bloom's character and a number of
minor roles were not necessary to ensure it would be yet another box office smash for Disney."

I doubt they'd kill him off. Depp's salary I'm sure is much more bloated. The only way they'd kill him off is if Bloom didn't want to return...except I'd say this article is still all BS considering there hasn't been any official statement or talk about a 4th movie. If they even are writing a script, it's probably deeply underwraps and about 3 people probably know what's gonna happen. If this paper is so good at "uncovering the truth" then why don't they spoil the 3rd movie that's actually being filmed? ugh

At the end of the second movie when who know who dies, and all the fan girls were freaking out...I said, theres no way they'd actually let him be dead. He's making way too much money for this.

Capt. Jack and Will make a great duo. If it is true, Orlando probably wants to do other roles besides action - adventure.

Rumors of Will Turner's death have been greatly exaggerated.

Fans afraid that Orlando Bloom won't return to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films can rest easy. Despite buzz that Bloom's character would be sacrificed because of budget constraints, the rumors are "completely unfounded."

Public Relations firm New Market Strategies informed journalists via email that Bloom will return to the swashbuckling franchise.

"As some of you may have seen," begins the statement, "there have been some rumors going around online regarding potential absence of Orlando Bloom in the future 'Pirates of the Caribbean' films. We are working closely with Disney and want you to know that while we cannot comment on specific plot points, such rumors are completely unfounded."

So, even if Will is keelhauled, made to walk the plank or run through with a sword, no worries: he will survive.

The character won't have an easy time of it for the next film since at the end of "Dead Man's Chest," Will lost his father Bootstrap Bill (Stellan Skarsgard) once again and saw his girl Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) kissing the disreputable Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp).

The third installment, "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," is due in theaters May 2007.
