Default Why didn't Alice just tell Carol, they could have gotten arrested

In the episode Lost Locket Found Locket When Carol decided to go to Mike's office and check out his type writer to see if Mike's typewriter dropped it's y's Alice went with her. Then the security guard came. They could have been
arrested. Why did Alice not just telll her before they went through all that trouble? That's one episode I never understood. This in my opinion was kind of a weird episode.

I haven't seen that episode in awhile, but didn't Alice tell Jan that it was something special between "middle sisters"? Plus, what would they have done the extra twenty minutes after she confessed to Mrs. Brady? ;-)

Alice must have had some long hidden resentment towards Carol that was coming to the surface as evidenced by her putting Carol in a dangerous situation. Carol was still the "new woman" somewhere deep in Alice's tormented mind. Sure, she knew that they would be no charges pressed against them when Mike or his boss found out they had broken and entered the building. But Alice also knew that such an arrest would be harder on Carol than herself. Alice, being the streetsmart person she was, had probably been in all sorts of trouble herself as a youth.

Probably either engage in a potato sack race, or perhaps a square dance.

Even though they were 'sneaking' into Mike's office, I'm sure they figured that they wouldn't have gotten in trouble even if the nightwatchman caught them, since all Carol had to do would be to identify herself as Mike's wife.

On another note, was Mike's firm a tennant in a large office building, rather than working out of their own stand-alone building? I guess they probably were housed in a large office building... If they had their own building, I'm guessing they'd be the only architectural firm in the country with a night watchman!

She did. Then the security guard said well let's just get your huband over or call your husband something like that.
Carol said ,"I really wish you wouldn't (Not wanting Mike to know)
and the security guard said I bet you don't."

That's funny. To date, I have never met anyone who does (or did) either of those things with their family; not even in the 70s.
