When her sister Faith dies of breast cancer, Sarah Silvers whole life is turned upside down. This neurotic, self-possessed coffeeshop owner is named guardian of her fifteen year old neice, Shelly who is the product of an affair that Faith had with Charlie Stevens, Sarah's first husband... Making matters worse, Charlie who never knew the child was his is being told for the first time, in a letter from Faith that he gets after her death... Now, Sarah is forced to raise her niece with her ex-husband who cheated on her with her very own sister... Also in the picture is Sarah's daughter, sixteen year old Amanda with her second husband, Thomas who died while serving in the army over six years ago... How will Sarah cope with Charlie, her niece and her own daughter? will this makeshift family ever survive? espeically when they learn that Faith left them a house with the condition that they all live in it together?
