Definitely the early episodes. They were at their peak then. Hilarious!

practicaly the entire series; but if I had to say 1; it'd be the early episodes. Like the ones where they first moved into the mansion and were finding out about everything.
For instance, they didn't want to go uostairs because they thought someone else probably lives there

When Jethro went upstairs and was looking around; he called down to Jed-

Jethro: "Uncle Jed! They's a whole other house up here"!

Jed: "Jethro! Come down from there! Like as not, that belongs to someone else"!

clerk: " The ruby I am talking about is not a lady."
Granny: "Lissen, how she got them diamonds is her business. I'm just sayin' ask her kin we buy one from her."

Totally agree! Love the one (probably pilot episode, if I'm correct) when they're moving into the mansion. Miss Jane wants to know if Jethro's an "Eton" man. Jed says something like, "yeah, he's been an eatin' man since he was about seven years old." Dialogue like that is priceless.

no, that wasn't the pilot, it was the 2nd episode. And, the scene is, Miss Jane says to Jed "I heard Jethro went to Oxford"? (which is a backwoods school, named OXFORD because it's where the oxen used to ford the river. But since she hadn't met Jethro yet, she thinks Jed means Oxford university) Jed says "That, he did". And she says "I suppose he also went to Eaton"? (meaning Eaton University) And Jed says "If I know Jethro, he went to eatin' as soon as he was born".

Default I have to agree with the poster who said...

...they like the dialouge in the early shows.
Like in the 2nd one, where Jethro's looking at the cut-glass chandelier in the entrance hall; and Mr. Drysdale and Jed walk in:

Mr. Drysdale-"Well Jethro, what do you think of that"?
Jethro-"Ah didn't bust it, honest"!
Jed-"Th' boy's tellin' th' truth, Mr. Drysdale. It was that way when we moved in".

And later in the same scene:
Jed-"You've never seen our place back home, have ya"?
Drysdale-"No, I haven't".
Jed-"It's a dandy".
Drysdale-"Yes, some of those southern mansions are beautiful. I suppose it has pillers"?
Jed-"Yea, but we brung em out ta use on the beds out here".
Drysdale-"No, I mean wooden pillers".
Jed-"Don't think ah ever slept on a wooden piller".

And in the pilot-
(before they move)
Pearl to Jed-"And, ya know what else is good about Californey"?
Jed-"What"?
Pearl-"They ain't got no snow and ice".
Jed-"Well, how come"?
Pearl-"I don't know. Jethro would know. He's goin' ta skool. Jethtro"!
Jethro-"Yea, ma"!
Pearl-"C'mere fer a minute. Your rich uncle's got a question fer ya".
Jed-"Jethro, how come there ain't no snow and ice in Californey"?
Jethro-"Well, don't look at me, ah didn't take it".

and then; there's my signature.

I could go on and on with the dialouge!

I was only about 7 when the show started and I remember more about the show later on, plus I liked it when they weren't as dumb. They were getting more use to city life.

I liked the early years the best. In the later years Jethro kind of got on my nerves.
