Does anyone know if they're going to release a third Beverlyhillbillies Ultimate Collection 3? I want more Hillbillies, lol.

well; from what I've heard, MPI only has the rights to the first 2 seasons and Paramount owns the rights to the remaining seasons. There was a rumor that Paramount was going to realease another DVD of season 1 (I know; I'm confused too since they don't have the rights to season 1) and after that they were going to realease seasons 3 to 11 (anyone else remember this?) but I e-mailed tvshowsondvd.com and asked them about it; but they said they didn't know anything.

From what I know of it, Paramount does own the complete series, but allowed MPI to release the first two seasons in whatever way they liked (and for some reasons they chose to release them in 3 different releases: Volume One, Volume Two, and the Ultimate Christmas Collection) with volume one containing most of season one, volume two containing the rest of season one and the second season) plus the 2 Christmas episodes that were omitted from the first two Ultimate Collections released in the Ultimate Christmas Collection as well as the Christmas episode omitted from the PJ Ultimate Collection. Petticoat Junction only got one Ultimate Collection, so I'm assuming that only the first 21 episodes of the series was licensed to them from Paramount.
I'm guessing that PHE wanted to test the waters without putting any of their money in danger by doing the first releases themselves. Any news on this, Pav? |
