Default Episode 49 "It Takes Two" 10/1/06

Susan and Ian have their first official date while their respective lovers remain in comas, and Xaio-Mei, the surrogate mother of Gaby and Carlos' baby, delivers the long awaited bundle of joy.

Also: Bree and Orson get married. At the reception, Lynette and Tom hook Nora up with someone else's man, and it ends badly. Police find the dead woman's body at the country club and it is identified.

WTF was that?

So... that's not Orson's wife. Who was it? Why was he called to identify her? What did he say to her after Bree left?

So the baby plot is over like that. WOW. I had been kinda suspicious after seeing future episode plots that didn't include any baby. So what next???!!!

Next week looks awesome.

Orson is so mysterious. So many unanswered questions still about him. I think he said something in French?

I was dying laughing when the baby came out as another "color!" Return of John and Andrew next week!!

This was one of the best episodes the series has had in a while. The labor scene, with Gaby and Carlos exchanging niceties and with Xiao Mae interrupting with shrieks of pain was hilarious; it took a minute for me to realize what the "color" of the baby meant but I thought the comedy was really sharp in that sequence.

Just one glaring omission, but it was conspicuous: why, if Bree was getting married, were her children nowhere near the wedding? Even if Andrew was still off living on his own, her daughter should have been at least seen in the wedding. Of course, I didn't see the season premiere and maybe that storyline was addressed then. I just thought it was a notable lack of script continuity.

Things happen so quickly on Wisteria Lane. Bree gets widowed, nearly marries another man, watches him commit suicide, then gets hooked up with Orson and now marries him. Of course, time has continued on, as Xiao Mae went from being barely pregnant at the end of season 2 to giving labor in the 2nd episode of Season 3...so we can assume that the courtship of Bree and Orson has lasted a while, just we weren't privy to all the intervening months.

Now that Xiao Mae has had her baby, is she done? Or will she continue to be Gaby's housekeeper? I have grown to like the character. Where is Felicia Tillman? She needs to be added to the cast permanently. And what about the Zach/Paul storyline? Is that over, finally?

Danielle was there for a split second in one of the camera shots, but she did not speak. She also didn't appear in the premiere. I hope we see her next week with Andrew returning. I really would like to know how she feels about Orson.

Talking Just A Theory

I have been watching Desperate Houswives since the begining and after this weeks hilarious episode(It Takes Two) I have a theory on the Orson storyline. While I believe he has killed someone and it is probably the woman in the morgue, I don't believe he killed his wife Alma. In fact he has even stated that a few times and while he is a creep, I believe that he is telling the truth. I am willing to bet that she isn't even dead, and just because the bird was saying "No Orson" doesn't mean he was in the process of killing his wife. So in that event where could she be? How about a place where no one would know she is at and no one would think to look. How about a place like ....the nut-house.
Remember Orson was visiting the nut-house when Bree was there and he apparently knows the wacked out Dr. and is familiar with the place. Ultimately I have a feeling that the whole Orson stroyline is going to have more to do with Mike than with Bree. Something to ponder. Any comments?

Arkany,

That's an interesting theory about Alma being in the "nuthouse"...but it makes sense. But wouldn't Bree have gotten to know most of the residents of the facility while she was there, since she had checked herself in and wasn't one of the "crazy" ones? I guess it's always possible Alma might have been in a secluded area.

However, with Alma having some kind of brain situation, it would be more likely she was stowed away at some other facility.

Regarding Mike and his connection to all this...I'm stumped. I wish I'd watched the season premiere to know for sure what had already been covered...but I do remember from Season Two that Orson ran him over. If Orson has married Bree, he SHOULD have no interest in either Mike or Susan. But gosh, just imagine the tension when Mike finally recovers conciousness. I feel a powder keg is brewing on Wisteria Lane.

Default Re: LETTERL and "Just A Theory"

LETTERL,
Last season when Bree was in the nut-house it was made to seem that she was only in there maybe a day or two at most because of the whole thing with her daughter and the Applewhite boy. We know at least some of her time was spent tied to a bed, but we don't know how much contact she had with, if any of the other patients except for the woman who pointed out Orson and mentioned that he came to visit some woman on a regular basis. We saw the woman for a brief second and from a long shot so you never got a good look at her face. Could be Alma, or maybe the dead woman . Who knows? But it was a clue, I believe, that alluded to this season's mystery.

In regards to Mike, we initailly meet Orson when he is in the movie theatre and Susan see's Mike with a girl and she cozy's up to Orson so that she doesn't look like a loser. Susan introduces Mike to Orson and after Mike walks away Orson gives Susan his card. Makes you wonder if Orson recognized Mike from some point long ago right then, or what. I think he recognized him and if I recall Susan had mentioned Mike was her neighbor. So now Orson has a way to keep tabs on Mike.

The next time we see Orson(and this is when he first meet's Bree) is at the clean-up of Susan's burned house. Susan suggests to Mike that he go see Orosn because he is having dental problems and it is in Orson's office that Mike begans to feel like he knows Orson from somewhere. Orson denies this and long story short, runs Mike down with his car. This is why I think the story is going to end up having more to do with Mike than Bree. Bree does play a part, but to what end I don't know. It could be that she is just being used for a different gain, or what. We'll have to wait and see.

Of course let's not forget the other loose ends, such as Felicia is still alive, Paul is in jail, and Zach is where ever, But don't be surprised if they all show up again at some time or another.

Regardless, your right Wisteria Lane is a powder keg waiting to blow.

Arkany,

Wow...you're right. I had forgotten about Orson's concern for the woman in the wheelchair at the mental health facility...but what you propose makes sense...and when one thinks about it, that woman could very well be, or is likely to be, Alma. You're an astute viewer! And I, who usually credits myself with a sharp eye for observation, was obviously not paying close enough attention to all the details during the Bree/alcholism storyline.

Everything you propose makes sense and based on the information we have so far, your theory could very well be how things turn out. If that is the case...who is Monique? And why would/could Orson have killed her or had something to do with her death?

She was next to Julie at the wedding right?

Yeah... right when she goes up to Orson at the altar, you can see both of them in the background if you closely, but they don't speak.

and there is DEFINTELY a connection between Mike and this dead woman(I've seen spoilers). It hasn't been revealed yet, but it will be. There will also be flashbacks with Monique in them(probably like how the Season 1 mystery played out with Mary Alice and Deidre appearing to tell the story).

Yeah, Bree's dress was amazing. And the ceremony was very elaborate. What kind of church was that, anyway?

Bree and Orson are Protestant. It looked a little too fancy to be Presbyterian. Maybe Methodist or Anglican?
