Question Father Knows Best - Home for Christmas

A few years ago I watched what I think was a Father Knows Best Christmas movie (black and white). Much of the movie centered around a stormy christmas eve. The family were lamenting the fact that one of the daughter's husbands (son-in-law), a pilot inthe US airforce, would not be able to make it home for Christmas. Then, suddenly, the proverbial knock on the door late in the evening ... and guess who appears!

Question: Is this the 1977 "Home for Christmas" movie? I kind of doubt it since by 1977 the film would be in color, not black and white. If this is not a "Father Knows Best" movie, does any of the storyline ring a bell?

Living in hope that someone can point me in the right direction a put me out of my misery. Besides from wanting to view this terrifically heart-warming film again, my curiosity is killing me.

Thanks.

Yes, this is the 1977 'Father Knows Best' Christmas movie from Dec. 1977, and yes it was in color!

I don't know why the broadcast you saw was not in color but the 1977 original WAS in color.

I have a copy of this, but it is very poor quality. Apparently, it is a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy...

It's watchable, but just passable in quality. The color is weak and shifted (I have to adjust the controls on my TV way off from the normal settings). This happens when you make a copy of a copy of a copy...each generation gets worse.

Somebody apparently taped it off the USA network, it was broadcast around the holidays (I'm guessing it was sometime in the 1980's)

I was so surprised to receive a reply ... thank you so much for taking time to respond. It is likely that my memory is playing tricks and that the movie was in color after all. Now that I know the movie, my new challenge is to locate and purchase it, which from the sounds of it will not be easy.

It's never been available on videotape or DVD so your only option is to find someone who has taped it off of TV.

Hopefully someone on this message board will have a better copy than mine and can get it to you. If you have no luck, I can make you a copy of mine. About the best I can say about it is: it's better than nothing!

I love the “Father Knows Best” Christmas reunion made for TV special. Have been watching it as part of Christmas tradition since 1977

Oh I remember this but it's been a long time since I've seen it. I hope it will be on again sometime soon!
