Default 'Crocodile Hunter's' widow doesn't want footage of deadly attack shown

http://www.9news.com/acm_news.aspx?O...9-00c014346932

NEW YORK (AP) - The widow of "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin says footage of her husband's deadly encounter with a stingray won't ever be shown on television.

In an interview with ABC's Barbara Walters, Terri Irwin says she hasn't seen it and questions the purpose of airing it. Steve Irwin died earlier this month when a stingray's barb pierced his chest. He had been filming a TV show on the Great Barrier Reef.

His widow called the incident a stupid accident, likening it to "running with a pencil."

American-born Terri Irwin had been on a research trip with the couple's two children at the time. She said her family would continue her husband's efforts to teach the world about wildlife. She added that living at a zoo has helped her 8-year-old daughter understand her father's death, because she has seen animals die.

A wise and dignified decision on her part, in my opinion. I'm going to watch the Barbara Walter's interview. Barbara was on Bill O'Reilly discussing it earlier, and I got sad watching that. They showed clips of the interview.

I think it's a good decision too.

I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but Steve Irwin's death has made me take an interest in him. And I DON'T mean that in a rude, disrespectful way - I just mean that when he was alive, although I liked him as a person, I'd never watched much of his shows. But now, his death has made me read up some stuff about him, watch some video clips of him, and I really like him a lot. I'm just sorry that it took his death to make me realise what an important guy he was.

If that's what the family wants, no one should fight it. I hope they don't.

You know what else bugs me? While I was in line to pay at the BX today, I see Steve's face on all of the tabloids and stuff. WTF? Let him rest in peace. Greedy men in expensive suits can't let Steve Irwin die without getting a few thousand for it. *******s.

Just like Princess Diana. The woman is dead, has been for almost 10 years, and they just won't let her be. I think once celebrities die, the tabloids should spare their families of stories like "Princess Diana was pregnant with Michael Jackson's baby when she was killed!" (Btw, I don't know if that's real, I just made it up lol) but serious. Let the people RIP!
