Cool

I'll tell my most (recent) embarrassing moment.

I was at the YR National Convention a few months ago in New Orleans. (How stupid was that, having a YR convention anywhere near New Orleans, can we say 24/7 drunkfest. I don’t think anybody was sober for the entire thing) Anyway, I was the newest member to the Texas YR’s so the Texas Chairwoman decided that I should go and announce our votes for one of the elections that we were voting on for national office.

Well, when the time came, I was NERVOUS. People were talking; they really weren’t paying too much attention to the voting because it was basically a shoo-in on who was going to win. The person in front of me had gone and then they called for Texas’ vote. I step up to the microphone and it was a little high for me, the guy who spoke before I did was tall. So I reach up to turn the microphone down so that I could talk into it. Well, the microphone was already a little loose from other people having to adjust it, when I took my hand away after adjusting it, it FELL to the ground with a loud THUMP! That can be pretty loud on it’s own, but the microphone was already on so it was a pretty loud BOOM and then whistling from feedback. People got quiet and turned around to look at me as I reached down and picked the microphone up off the ground. I know I was turning beet red. I picked it up, gave my speech and announced our votes and then put the microphone back in its place just like nothing had happened, the entire time EVERYBODY was watching me.

I WAS SO EMBARRASED! I came back to my seat mortified at what had happened. My sister and our other roommate came up to me and were all like “Hey, good job of getting everyone’s attention there. You did a better job of getting everyone to come to order then the Chairman did.” That did it, I just started cracking up laughing. That didn’t make it as bad, but for a few seconds I was SO embarrassed.

Now, I look back and I just can’t keep from laughing. In fact I met quiet a few people because of that little incident. Delegates from other states would come up to me while we were out on the town at night and strike up a conversation usually starting with, “I liked the way you got everybody to be quiet at the General Session today/the other day.” I’d start laughing and then we would talk. It was pretty funny.

I was in 1st grade and we were doing a Christmas play. I was Mary and it was my turn to go. The microphone was down so I kinda pushed it up. I started to say my lines and then it went back down. It did this quite a few times then I just said my line and in the middle people started clapping and I wasnt even done yet lol.

I guess that wasnt too bad.

OOH and I have another one from 3rd grade but its toooo embarrassing :embarrassed:

Those are awesome and thank you (the ones who shared their moments with everyone), you made me laugh.
Here is mine: I was in second grade (8 years old) many many years ago (LOL) and the teacher told everyone in the class to bring in something that was dear to them for a show and tell. Well, the day came around and everybody brought something (most of the kids brought a stuffed animal, teddy bear and the like) but what did I bring? MY CAT. MY REAL LIVE CAT. LOL I was terribly embarrassed because the entire class burst into laughter but they got over it once they 'made friends' with my beautiful cat named Fluffy.

Ags2000: That was an embarrassing moment! I am so glad that didn't happen to me or I probably would of died on the spot!!

I've had several embarrassing moments myself, but won't go into them right now.

Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud?

Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.

Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.

Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

[Eddie and Lumpy suppress laughter]

It really was at the time, but now when I look back, I just laugh. Besides, I did get to meet a bunch of people and was invited to several private parties because of it. So I guess it wasn't THAT bad. Funny, yes definately, but not as embarrassing as it COULD have been.

....I was about to post my most embarrassing moment but then I realised that just thinking about it makes me want to curl up in a little ball and die!
So I hope you'll all forgive me for not sharing!

O.K., I understand that if you have an embarrassing moment you may not want to share with anyone if it will make you blush as I am shy myself.
How about an embarrassing moment you WITNESSED then? (a friend, relative, etc.) Nobody has to mention names and the whole point of creating this thread was because I thought it would be nice to able to laugh at ourselves.
AGS2000, I still love yours, I had tears in my eyes laughing about it. Thanks for sharing it.
