about Whitley being Pregnant was DUMB since the show was ending and we would never see the Mother Whitley. That's something that is supposed to be done in a SEASON FINALE not a SERIES FINALE. Just having Whitley and Dwayne go to Japan would have been fine. The Pregnant part wasn't really needed

I thought it was bound to happen since we saw their entire relationship develop over the series. I can deal with a pregnant Whitley over a pregnant Thelma from Good Times. It seemed like that was just added in their without any development.

I agree with both of you, but more with Solomon. It was bound to happen, but when it did, I wanted to see it happen during the series, not in the finale. The producers and writers had to know this was going to be the last season since ratings were so low (considering Cosby wasn't on anymore), so they could have made her pregnant right away, and maybe have her in labor in the finale. But, it's just another bad finale, like most shows.

Right, by doing it in the beginning she could have had the baby and it would have been closure. But annoucing she is pregnant in the SERIES FINALE still leaves a hole in the show that will never be filled

They knew that they were leaving the airwaves which is why the finale was written the way it was.

But isn't a finale about wrapping things up? a pregnancy is something that is supposed to be at the end of a season not the end of a series

They had to know the sixth season was going to be the last, since Cosby wasn't coming back for another season -LOL. But, another possiblity is, maybe the writers just needed to fill the time with another storyline. Obviosly, the main storyline to me in this episode was that they're moving away from Hillman. So, by throwing in the idea of having a baby, the finale would show us that Dwayne and Whitley were starting a whole new life? Just a thought.

The same could be said abt a lot of other "unfinished" business. Kim is engaged to that guy with the dreadlocks. I would like to have seen more of that relationship. I would have liked to see Freddie leave Ron. Why does a series have to tie up loose ends anyways? It is supposed to be like real life, no one ties up everything in one day.

As for Good Times I would have loved to see the family in their new home.

There were all those B-storylines in the finale that were never cleared up. But, like I said before, the main idea of the finale was for Whitely and Dwayne to move on with their life, and I think that was obviously show. But, it bothers me that nothing else was cleared up. Maybe they wanted it that way, or maybe there was another reason.

A pregnancy can be a happy ending for a storyline because it represents something wonderful or a moment of joy in the lives of others. The event is what makes the finale in part.

Yeah but then there would be talk abt, "Well, I want to see them be parents..." "I want to see the baby grow up..." "I want to see the characters interact with their baby..."

The list is never-ending. I just would have rather not have anything "fresh" or "new" be in a finale. Just end the show. In real life everything isn't done or completed in one day, so why do that in a finale?

A good example of things coming to an end is the M*A*S*H finale. The Korean War was only two years, but the show was on forever! However, the ending of the war is a great way to end the show.

The Cosby show ending with Theo's graduation was great. However, adding that Denise is pregnant and having it done "over the phone" was stupid! Why bother adding that in? Pointless!!!! Just have Theo's graduation and maybe a family celebration. Don't add more than is necessary.

The Jeffersons didn't even have a send-off, but it would have been nice to have them celebrating a wedding anniversary with Lionel and Jenny and the rest of the cast there to celebrate. No frills.
