This afternoon, my husband brought a can of old paint in the house.
Unbeknownst to him, there was a hole in the bottom of the can. He made it into the kitchen, when I saw paint dripping onto his pants and sneaker. A nice shade of pale yellow, I might add. I almost screamed. He had no idea. He got the paint from our shed downstairs -- then he walked up a big flight of concrete stairs, onto our wooden deck...and into our front carpeted hallway, through our living room with hardwood floors, and into the kitchen with a ceramic tile floor -- leaving a trail of paint along the way. To make matters worse, our cat ran onto the paint and ricocheted over two sofas before running up the carpeted stairs to the upstairs bedrooms. Since cats lick themselves, we tried to wash his paint covered paws in the kitchen sink. Cats and water, no good. He flipped, got away...scratching me by accident in the process. My finger was bleeding, and my house was covered in paint. I took him to the groomer. The paint was embedded into his paws, and they had to be washed and trimmed. My husband went to the hardware and bought just about every product under the sun to remove paint, to clean carpets, clean hardwood floors, ceramic tile floors, upholstery cleaner. Luckily the paint was water-based. We spent the day on all fours, cleaning. He had to scrub the stairs and deck outside, hosing everything down. We managed to get almost all of the paint out. The groomer cost $60, the cleaning supplies cost $50. His sneakers are ruined. He just bought them two weeks ago for $80. I wanted to wring his neck, but he was tough enough on himself, so we just did what we had to do. This happened at 12:30 today, and we didn't finish cleaning until 6:00, only stopping for a sandwich. My husband says that we'll probably laugh about it someday, but I'm not so sure. It was just a horrible day. It was like something you'd see in a sitcom, but this was real. |

Wow Janice! I have to agree, that IS something you'd see in a sitcom, lol. But you really will think about this, when you don't remember what it cost to clean, and laugh your butts off!

That is a HORRIBLE story Janice. One day, you will look back on it and get a giggle, but I don't see that happening for a while.

Your husband sure has a strange way of painting the house.

maybe it will help improve the traffic flow in the house - just remember that you can't pass if the yellow line is solid

Wow, I'm sorry about your day, Janice. But at least it's over and done with, now. Tonight, sit back and relax in front of the television. Watch your favourite TV show and drink your favourite hot drink. Or have a bath.
