According to Jeff Lenburg (THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ANIMATED CARTOONS): 32
episodes (two per show). So that's only 16 different shows for the whole season. (Wow! That's a lot of repeats even for a Saturday morning cartoon.) Of course, that was only the first season. There were also several spin-offs of THE ARCHIE SHOW (which ran from Sept. 14, 1968 to Sept. 6, 1969): THE ARCHIE COMEDY HOUR (1969-1970), ARCHIE'S FUNHOUSE (1970-1973), ARCHIE'S TV FUNNIES (1971-1973), EVERYTHING'S ARCHIE (1973-1974), U.S. OF ARCHIE (1974-1976) and ARCHIE'S BANG-SHANG LALAPALOOZA SHOW (1977-1978). Some of those shows included new episodes, the others repeats. Seven different Archie series. Filmation got almost as much mileage out of Arch as Hanna-Barbera has with Scooby-Doo. |
