It's not funny! What did the poor osrtrich do to you guys?? He's on the loose trying to get away from people laughing at him. Poor little guy. And we wouldn't have even known if they hadn't put it on the breaking news! COME HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the subject of "Why the heck is this considered important breaking news?" I remember watching one of the local stations during their news broadcast one evening very shortly after the 2004 tsunami disaster. One of their majorly important headlines was the news that Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt were splitting up. My mom and I just looked at each other and sighed. Thousands of people injured, missing, and dead and thousands more displaced in Southeast Asia and the most important story of the night was two Hollywood celebrities breaking up

It really is ridiculous how the news media covers events anymore. What I find intrusive is the never ending news crawl at the bottom of the television screen. The local affiliates here feel the need to put up a news crawl for each and every fender bender that happens on the roadway... why do they have to report everything so incessantly? I don't even watch the news anymore, because it is always so alarmist and over-the-top, as all the stations are competing for ratings. I want to watch the news, not a Hollywood blockbuster, people...
