Default What are your favorite episodes?

First of all, I can only choose out of season 1 of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" (I have it on DVD) and the three seasons of "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" (it airs locally). All of the in-between years, I haven't seen since they aired on Nick at Nite a long time ago. So I'm only going to list the ones I have a vivid recollection of:

Faves from "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" season 1:

The Hidden Thing
The Older Sister
Revenge
Triggers in Leash
Breakdown
You Got To Have Luck
Never Again
The Belfry
The Creeper

Faves from the "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" all 3 seasons:

The Jar (see my name and avatar)
Final Vow
House Guest
Forecast: Low Clouds and Coastal Fog
A Tangled Web
Death and the Joyful Woman
The Cadaver
Beast in View
Night Caller
Lonely Place
The Return of Verge Likens
Where the Woodbine Twineth
An Unlocked Window
The Final Performance

Similarly, I can only rate the season one episodes, as those are the only ones available currently, outside of four 'best of' volumes with about 4 episodes each that are currently out of print, but may be found on ebay. I did buy one of those best of volumes and it had "Lamb to the Slaughter" and "Banquo's Chair" which I really enjoyed. I am really looking forward to Season 2 which comes out on Oct 17. I also hope to get one of the Twilight Zone collections to watch with it as that is my other favorite anthology show. ThedySueHIll: I wish I got the Alfred Hitchcock hour over here in MI. I think the Houston area might be the only market in the country that currently airs it.

Here's my favorites from season one:

-The Creeper (I love Constance Ford, she's my favorite actress of all-time)
-Revenge
-You Got To Have Luck
-Breakdown
-Premonition
-Momentum (predictable, but still thoroughly enjoyable)
-Never Again
-Don't Come Back Alive
-Salvage
-Back for Christmas

I really liked most of them, as there were only a few I didn't care for. Mink was one of them. I had high hopes for it, but I've seen Hitchcock use the everybody conspiring against one person many times before, so it seemed like rehash.

I'm looking forward to season 2 as well! I wish Universal wouldn't release them at just one season per year.

There's an afffiliate in Southern CA that airs both "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour". The one in Houston just started carrying "Hour" again after a year and a half hiatus. I was so happy to see it return to the schedule. Though I'd love it if both series ("Presents" and "Hour") would air nationally so fans all over could have the opportunity to watch. There would be a lot more discussions take place and it would garner new fans.

Just finished watching season 2. Here are my favorites from that box set:

-None Are So Blind (nice, shocking ending)
-the Manacled
-A Bottle Of Wine
-Malice Domestic
-Cream Of The Jest
-One More Mile To Go
-A Little Sleep
-The Dangerous People

The only one I disliked was A Man Greatly Beloved. Despite teriffic performances from Sir Cedric Hardwicke and the young actress who played the little girl, the ending is backwards.

What are your favorites?

Unfortunately, we'll probably have to wait another 11 months for the release of season 3, but that's the season that contained one of the most famous episodes of all time: Lamb To The Slaughter.

I have season 2 wrapped up under the Christmas tree right now. I can't wait to watch it.

It has been so long since I have seen any of the episodes to one of my favorite shows (I have 32 Hitchcock movies on DVD).

The one that sticks out in my mind is the one with Barbara Bel Geddes. She kills her husband by hitting him on the head with a frozen leg of lamb and then she cooks it and serves it to the investigating officers.

Can anyone tell me the name of that episode and in which season it aired?

Yup. That would be "Lamb to the Slaughter", which is probably the most famous episode, and one of my favorites. It aired in the third season, so if the notoriously slow Universal continues with its one season a year release of this show, it would be released this October. That is certainly not a guarantee, however, Universal is very unreliable.

Can you tell I dislike Universal?

Default The Glass Eye...

I didn't see that one listed, but it definitely has elements of creepiness and the twist is just so unexpected. Wow.

Oh yes, the Glass Eye, that is one of the most chilling I have ever seen. Jessica Tandy was perfect for that role.

I can't believe I forgot to do my favorite eps for season three, here they are

the glass eye
right kind of house
little white frock
night of the execution
the deadly
the percentage
the motive
the foghorn
lamb to the slaughter
fatal figures
dip in the pool
an impromptu murder

least favorite was guest for breakfast

Admittedly it is with some bias that I post this favorite. In other words, I like stories that deal with Reincarnation, so I would have picked this episode even if it was poor. But it turned out pretty good because of its interesting twist. I am referring to the episode "Murder Me Twice." In fact, I'm sure there was a remake when the Hitchcock series was revived in color during the 1980s. I'm trying to remember the title of the remake. Maybe someone else here might recall.
