Back in the sixties, The Monkees was my No. 2 favorite group (of course, The
Beatles was No. 1). Micky was my favorite because he was funny and I
remembered him from ten years before when he starred in CIRCUS BOY (also
produced by Screen Gems). Micky went on to do a lot of voiceover work for
Hanna-Barbera. While Micky and Davy did most of the lead singing, Mike
Nesmith and Peter Tork were the professional musicians. Davy had acted in
the play "Oliver," so both Davy and Micky had previous acting experience.
So, Micky and Davy had to learn to play music and Mike and Peter had to
learn to act. I think the four guys had a great chemistry between them as
actors and, later, as musicians. In fact, I believe their last album--"Justus"
--was perhaps their best. That came out in the 1990s. It would be cool to
see them together again, esp. since this year marks their 40th anniversary.

Yes, I like the Monkees - I never missed their TV show. Favorite song by them is "Pleasent Valley Sunday".

Cool

The Monkees were perhaps one of the most underrated bands of the 60s/70s!! I dug them very much and still do. Nesmith has proved he can write good songs out of the Monkees too!
