Default I Bought The Complete Series

From iOffer. Since there is no word on the studio releasing the series, I figured what the heck and bought the whole series from iOffer. It's been so long since I've seen the show all the episodes will be new to me. The Lucy show is not being shown anywhere in the city that I live in. The only episodes I remember seeing are Lucy and Viv putting up an antenna, and Lucy and Viv putting in a shower.

Default a helpful tip...

...'comedyfreak'- I don't want to influence your judgement, but the best episodes were produced during the first two seasons (1962-'64). After the second season, most of the cast and main production crew started to 'fall away' from the show, and the "Los Angeles" episodes (1965-'68) are hit and miss...some good ones, and others, you'll wonder what Lucy was thinking when she tackled them!

Yeah, but I don't mind. What I like about this set is that it comes with some episodes that have the orginal commercials with them. I've been enjoying the first season, it's great. I also ordered all of Lucy's guest appearances, it's an 8 dvd set from 1958-86.

Default That's right....

..."THE LUCY SHOW" was orginally sponsored on alternate Mondays over CBS by General Foods {Jell-O, etc.} and Lever Brothers {Swan Liquid, Dove, etc.}, with Viv usually starring in the integrated "comedy" commercial for the sponsor(s) at the end of the episode [Lucy couldn't be bothered with doing those, running Desilu and dealing with other personal matters]. Keep in mind that the second and third season episodes WERE filmed in color, but originally shown in black & white on CBS, as they weren't telecasting ANY color shows until the fall of 1965, when Lucy was "officially" telecast in color. It wasn't until the spring of 1966 that some of the earlier '64-'65 color episodes were finally seen in color (as repeats, to pad out the remainder of the 1965-'66 season).

The 8 disc set of Lucy's guest apperances sounds interesting. I take it that starts from her appearances on "THE DANNY THOMAS SHOW" and "THE ANN SOTHERN SHOW", "The Desilu Revue" and "K.O. Kitty" on "DESILU PLAYHOUSE", assorted guest appearances on "WHAT'S MY LINE?", "PASSWORD" and some variety shows, and a few other guest shots that haven't been seen in years, 'comedyfreak'?

You are correct tv knowledge! The others are her appearance on Phil Donahue where she talks about the final season of Here's Lucy and how she broke her leg, plus she talks about her movie Auntie Mame. There is one disc that has a bday party for her, and I can't remember the others. I'll repost the complete set. I seen one disc and the quality is very good it's Lucy goes to London episode, the two parter.

The Lucy Show episodes that have the commercials on them are not done by the cast so far, but it was a joy to see the old commercials. Back then they showed one commercial then it was back to the show, two commericals total were played. I wish things were that way today, lol.

I wonder if they included those on the DVDs?

Other than the episodes with original commercials, does this set contain all the original opening credits, or just the kaleidoscope opening?

Okay...so I take it from these replies that this isn't an official release. Nor is this part of those store-bought Lucy DVDs.

Nope, I got them from a collector on ioffer.com. It will hold me over until the day they decide to release the series on dvd. Someone recorded every episode and I bought the set they made up. The Lucy Show has not been in syndication in my area since the 70's, so it's been a long time since I've seen the show and now I don't have to wait to see the show.

Dear Fans, as long as we continue buying these unauthorized sets, the folks at CBS/Paramount continue to ignore our wishes to ask them to release the shows on DVD. We need to focus our energies on getting CBS/Paramount to release these shows in a nice, authorized package.

As far as I am concerned, if it isn't released by CBS/Paramount, it is a pirated copy that brings up the issue of copyright infringement.

Why pay someone else for mediocre prints of shows anyway?
